my younger brother's a high school boy and he is gonna have the college entrance exams in June. one of his tests would be english. he is good at math, physics and that sort of tests, but he's poor at english. i told him to put more time to learn it when he was a freshmen, but he has kept ignoring it, he is poor at listening and reading.he knows some grammer and about 1500 words.i don't know how to help him or where could it be started? he has asked his teacher, only to get that more excersices should be done and more words should be remeberd to enlarge his vocabulary...he said he's good at forgeting the meaning of words...and time is limited for he has many other homework to do,he can only spend 2hs on english...
how can i help him? any advice?

You can help your brother by incorporating the English Language in your everyday conversation. Try to use new words everyday. Try to post an unknown word in your wall. I do believe your brother can do it, I think June is still so far He still have more than 10 weeks to prepare. If he is willing to do it, There will be a way.

The quickest way is to familiarize himself with the type of the test he is going to sit for since he has limited time to be prepared. This might help in a way instead of knowing nothing. The college entrance test usually consists of receptive skills like reading comprehension, and structures. I don't think listening will be tested in this case, except for an entrance test for English language faculty.

You must be a very good sibling of his. He may appreciate your help and would even appreciate you if you help him help himself. All you have to do is believe in him and encourage him to learn English. Actually, you can encourage him by saying this: "Brother, don't you know that 95% people who are good in math are also good in english?" I think that would work since it worked for my sister as well. Just believe in him, trust him, and support him. You know what they say, it's just a matter of perspective. Good day to you and may he pass his entrance exam.
