Our remote is damaged and my daughter is changing the channel by pressing the button from TV. But I said her if you are changing frequently 1 to 10, 50 to 1 then TV button will also damaged then how can we watch the TV. Now she understand and not change frequently. You are using remote or TV button for changing the channel.

Hi fanta! We are not using TV buttons to change the channels. We are lazy people ..........therefore, we only use remote control to switch to various channels. The flip side of not using TV buttons is that the buttons stop working if they are not used frequently.

Haha...once again funny conversation like cow milk. Fanta supremo is saying true inform the dpk and if he is not giving you then stole the remote from his house. But supremo you can also give the remote to fanta. dpk I can purchase the remote control for fanta but not for his TV for his mouth so she can talk less.

Hi Fantabulus, My tv does not do well without the remote. I have an older tv and without the remote I could only get a few channels. I got a Universal remote and programmed it to my tv. It's only about 10.00. I've had it for a couple of years with no problems so it's worth it. Actually, I think it was under 10.00. I don't know as changing by the tv will damage the tv. I wouldn't think so. There was a time when we didn't have remotes and the only way to change them was by changing them on the tv.

Always remote, in modern world things going so advance, compare to tv buttons in advance remote has each numbers so we skip the unwanted channels between the Series of channel we can go fast to the other channel easily also tv buttons are hard so they easily damaged in short time so prefering to buy a new remote is Good idea from me.

no problem in using the tv button to switch to channels..thats what its for.. and also u can change channel thru the decder box... or u can try changing channels using ur mind power..its rare..and hard to do..some people can.. u must relax.. go deep into ur subconscious and change the channel..usually only work between channel A to B..and back again ..between those two..but harder to go to channel C...and only works using a UHF or VHF frequency...because its analog..like old radio signal..can be manipulated by own radio signal command from our brain.. there u go..few cents from mylot ive earn today from this weird discussion.comments i left.lol

Not sure about that.. but when one of our old TV's remote control didn't work I was using the buttons on the TV itself. My father tried to fix the remote and now it is working. I think if you are a little concern about the TV buttons, it is better you buy a new remote or a universal remote control if it's difficult to replace your TV's remote control.

Cable Box - A black cable box
On my Cable box there are 4 buttons. Two for channels and two for channels. When my remote is not as close as the box , I use the channel buttons to change the channel. Here is my cable box. On the left are the buttons.

I can change the channel either way. I did invest in two remotes for the reason you have stated, in case one of the remotes being damaged. Also, it is possible to purchase a replacement remote either in an electronics store or through Ebay. That way the television won't take such a beating with your daughter changing the channels manually.

Our cable runs through a box and this renders the channel buttons of the TV unuseable. Only the volume and power buttons would work. If we had to manually change channels, we use the buttons on the cable box. This is actually an inconvenience for us especially when our remote suddenly runs out of batteries. Anyway, the constant pressing of any button in rapid succession could really damage it. Usually the button would be wedged or would remain depressed and would not pop out. This could also happen to your remote buttons, though, if you always pressing it too hard.

Using the remote is the most convenient way to operate our TV system without going near it. Frequent pushing the buttons to change channels or the volume will also damaged it. Since your remote is damaged, you could buy the same remote just like the damaged one which are readily available in service centers of your TV brand. Also available now are Universal remote control that suits any brand of TV, most are China made and a bit cheaper than the original ones.

Personally I am always utilizing the remote control, barely ever the TV itself. One time, I went through a similar experience, our remote control took a crap and for about a week we were utilizing the TV/cable box to change the channels, we ended up buying a universal remote control, because we didn't want to damage the buttons on the TV, because if those get damaged then it would cost more to get that fixed.

well i guess you do have the tiny buttons under your tv set that you can press and which will help you change your tv channels :) Or you can buy a spare remote control too!

You could buy a universal remote control, it works with any T.V just program it for your t.v brand. That's what I did when we lost our remote. The cable company may be able to give or sell you one too. Good luck.

I don't see any problems with changing the channel on a tv without using the remote. We do it at home all the time. Especially when the kids have hidden the remote and we can't find it right away.

We use the remote. Is the damage with the batteries or the unit itself?

I don't have a cable network I have a antenna that is where I got our local channel. I do have a remote in our t.v but when I ran out of battery I just used the button from the T.V it's hard because I stand up every time I changed the channel or I set the volume.

hi fanta yes its possible but I think getting a new remote control is your best bet in not wearing out the buttons on the TV .I do not think they, the remotes , are that expensive to buy.does the remote have a battery in it,if so maybe the battery is worn out.

There are universal remotes that you can buy to try to change channels. Also, if you have a VCR or recordable DVD player, you can use the remote to chane the channel on the video player and thereby change the TV channels. I do that with one of my older TV's.

I`ve always been changing the channel with the remote control.. I can`t imagine not having the remote, it would be kinda strange and unusual i guess.. :S but you can always buy a new one, they are usually cheap, under $15...
