I hate romance movies, specially whenever my girlfriend forces me to watch them with her cos she thinks its romantic (well I have my revenge though, she have to endure watching horror movies with me LOL) Maybe because happy endings in romance movies already gets annoys the heck out of me, i'm kinda liking it when the 2 protagonist didnt end up together. whether someone died or they broke up. I love giving me girlfriend a trollface look whenever she gets the bad ending..... cos she watched the movie to feel shivers in her spine and to giggle like a schoolgirl. Girls hates it when the 2 starcrossed lovers didnt end up together, but its watchable for guys. When writers finds a brilliant way to make the 2 protagonist not end up together, it seemed to make the romance movie/novel edgier. How do you feel when the protagonist didn't end up with his/her romantic interest?

As of now, I haven't read a novel/book where the two main characters don't end up together. I am a huge fan of Nora Roberts and pretty much all of her books have a happy ending. I think the fans would hate her if her main characters don't end up together. Recently, I watched the end of a Colombian novela, and guess what? The female protagonist turns into a serial killer, and when her man finds out, he dumps her. They don't end up together.

I know. I have been very busy lately, but I am trying to put some time aside for mylot. The name of the Colombian novela is Barbara. The novela is very intense full of twists and turns. I really liked watching it, is nothing like Mexican novelas, where the protagonists go through hell, but end up together at the end. I am girl and yes I like romance, but I am also smart enough to know that life is not a fairy tale, especially when it comes to relationships and romance. So, I don't buy happy endings I like seeing people suffer on the screen hehe!!

Mexican soap operas, You mean those soap operas where the protagonist is poor and little did that person know he/she is the missing child of a rich family. That person will go through hell and gets rich after her real parents find her and she will have her revenge. Also those soap operas where the 2 paired of protagonist will have a divorce and they will still end up together, My mom is obsessed with those.

Long time no see, that Columbian Novela sounds familiar, correct me if I am wrong, does the serial killer wears a wedding gown?

Its fine with me but still its better if they end up together! haha Whenever I watch romantic movies I like to feel the "kilig" factor and its sometimes frustrating when what we expect didn't happen...hehe Anyway, hat I observed with korean dramas, usually their protagonist didn't ends up together, that's why before I feel like they are not good in ending their dramas...hehe but now I appreciate it more by making my own endings for the stories!

really? I didn't know that, maybe because I am not a fan of k drama before. but so far, in most of the k dramas that I've watched, they didn't end up together and some just have an open ending, but still they are good for me.

well 100% of the Korean dramas aired in our country were in the 2000's. The modern Korean dramas have Japanese and Taiwanese influences.

when the main characters do not end up together, i feel that i have to think of ways in how they can end up together. i think this kind of ending makes the audience think and imagine things creatively to find an ending that suits their liking. i like it this way because it boosts my creative energies.

I love romance movies, drama or anything as long as it is romantic. I had been such lover of this kind of genre. I used to love it when a movie or series ends happily, but as I old enough, I realized that some love story didn't end the way we wanted to be because that's the reality of life. There is no such thing as Happy Endings. The reason why it didn't end happily because if it ended that way we tend to forget it. But if it end badly, We can still remember it because we are pissed with the ending.

In real life I would definitely like a happy ending but in films and dramas I always expect something creative and unique . Twists and turns make the story interesting and it is always expected from the script writer to make the story evolve as per the situation demands .

for sure a happy ending can still be pulled of perfectly and creatively but its really a huge challenge for writers to make the audience satisfied while ruining the romance in the end.In a way people can actually relate well to a story that will end up in a bittersweet or tragic ending.

giving my girlfriend a trollface while she cries on the movie is epic.

It depends on how the lovers didn't end up together. Sometimes, even if they didn't up together, the writers would find a way to give it an acceptable ending. Although, I don't like it, too when they don't end up together. Still, I'm not very fond of romantic movies. They're all cliche to me. I prefer watching horror and action movies.

I think horror and action have cliche's too but yeah it makes romance stories edgier and tolerable to guys if its not a fairytale ending. I can also tolerate interracial romance cos those type of pairings are rare.

You dont know how obssessed my girlfriend is with them and how often she forces me to watch them. Okay I will check that title out. My most hated romance are the cinderella cliche. You know the "poor girl, meets rich guy fairy tale crap."
