More Than Just The Average Dating Website

Hi everyone,
Was watching a TV program this morning and there was an interview with an unidentified woman, only known as 'Alex' who was a member of a popular British dating website (not sure if I'm allowed to give the name so I won't). Then there was an interview with one of the owners/people that runs the online service. I say it's not just the 'average' dating website because this one is especially for married men or women.
A few points were made and I'd like to know your views on them.
Alex felt that she wasn't doing anything wrong; the owner of the extra marital dating service felt that theirs was a legitimate service that can have a positive outcome - by making a woman or man feel satisfied/happy and so they can bring this happiness back to their family life.
It was argued that if the man/woman loved their husband/wife and there weren't any problems in the marriage then there would be no cheating in the first place.
Another thing was the site is free for women to use but men have to pay - the reason given was because they found that more men would sign up and not use the site as it was intended (often signing up without really thinking about it) and so charging means they have to think about it. They also said that women were more active on the site than men.
Do you agree with such a service? What are your reason(s) for saying this?

I'm not surprised that women are more active on the site because it's free for them lol. Apart from the sexist connotations of the dating site itself I don't agree with it either! I mean, if the marriage is failing then divorce and join a site afterwards. Nothing wrong with that.

Hi Janey,
Thanks for responding. You've made a very valid point there though charging for one and not the other is discriminatory I think. It seems to be that conscience and religion are taking a back seat when married people can play around like this. It's not the answer to a happy marriage but who am I to judge?

Hello again! I absolutely loved getting married but I guess I'm old-fashioned in taking it seriously. No matter what the world throws at us we shall stay together and that's that lol.

So, this website is intended for those married women and men? That is wrong at the first place. and I don't know how they come up with such reasoning to introduce another married men to another married women is justified at this point. Anyway, it is no ordinary website, and I will regard it as cheating anyway. Hopefully they will get rid of this website.

Thanks for responding. Yeah, it is solely for married men or married women which to me, kind of defies the purpose of getting married in the first place. I agree with you, I feel it is wrong too. It was put to the owner that they must have figured someone would have come up with the service so it might as well be them and she agreed. I guess those who run/own and use the service see nothing wrong with cheating, cos that is what it is in my opinion. I doubt they will get rid, they've been operating for at least 8 years and said that they have 45,000 members!!!!
