Egg Salad

Do any or anyone in your home like egg salad? I just thought about that as a lunch option and I think that I am going to make some soon. I would like to know what you put in yours if you make it? I am thinking of putting mayo, mustard, and pickle relish. I just posted my grandmother's recipe onto Triond and I think that it is the one that I will use to make it with. Since we raise chickens, we always have plenty of eggs and I think that this will be a great way to use some up.

I use mayonnaise, dill pickles and onions in my egg salads. We don't eat it often but once in a while I'll make it and everyone likes it.

I got interested in your post as I didnĀ“t know what an egg slad was. I do it often but I use it as a spread for bread at tea time. I put all those things (pickle when I have it) and a bit of milk to soften it. I specially like "real" eggs: they have another taste. I ghave them when I go to the country and they are awesome.

When I make my egg salad, I use mayonnaise, or salad dressing, chives, cayenne, or paprika. Sometimes I will add curry powder to give it a kick. It is the one that my mother used, and I do not have an exact recipe for it. I do not use pickel relish as I feel that would make it a little too sweet for me.

I use dill relish, takes care of the sweetness problem.

For me, mayo, chopped onions, pinch of garlic, sliced and then chopped radish, sometimes celery. For hubbie, salad dressing, celery, celery seed, pinch of black pepper. For wild food dinner, mayo, wild chick weed and serve on a bed of lamb's quarters or lettuce. I put some of the above ingredients on the side like onions or celery if I bring to a pot luck.

Chick weed is considered to be a weed. It often grows where chicken's have gone to the bathroom and their manure has broken down (hence the name). It is full of vitamins and minerals. Tends to taste like it, too. I will try to find where you can learn more about it and see what it looks like. But there are about 3 different looking ones, so it depends on what one is in your area. So I'll get back to you with more.

I typed in chickweed pictures and got a bunch.Latin name for at least one kind is stellaria media. It's hard to describe, but the pictures do help and so do the different sites with ways to eat it and what people do with it. What it looks like is hard to describe. It grows long along the ground where I live. It has tiny white flowers. The leaves are fat with a tiny little point. Better to research it than to have me go on and on.

I am the person in my family that enjoys egg salad the most. My son is not a fan of it, but my daughter also likes it, We both enjoy egg salad on toast. I like to put mayonnaise in my egg salad. I am not a fan of a tangy taste of miracle whip. I also like to put a bit of mustard and pickle relish in my egg salad.

I prefer mayo over Miracle Whip, but my husband doesn't like it.

I love egg salad, I usually put just mayo and green onions in my egg salad with a little bit of pepper on brown toast. Egg salad is tasty and really good for you.

I like egg salad but don't think to make it very often. I use dill pickles, onions, cheese and mayonnaise in mine. I don't have my own chickens any more so don't eat as many eggs as I used to.

I never heard of anyone adding cheese to it. That is an interesting concept that I might try.

I usually put minced onion in mine, and if I have bacon bits, they go in as well. I like egg salad. I look forward to this time of the year as eggs are generally reasonably priced.

I like egg salad, but my boyfriend doesn't like eggs. So, if I want egg salad, I'm left to eating all of it myself. I don't have a standard egg salad recipe. What I add depends on what sort of mood I'm in and what ingredients I have on hand. I don't, however, add pickle relish to mine; I generally don't like relish in my egg salad.

I know many who don't use pickle relish, but I like it to add some flavor to it.

I do like egg salad sometimes. Especially in the summer time. It would be a great way to use up some of those eggs. My b/f likes hard boiled eggs on his salads too.

We usually use just 1 or 2 eggs, hard boiled and chopped, then combined with mayo, finely minced fresh white onions, a little french mustard for color and a dash of salt to taste , I'm not so sure if the meaning of egg salad there is the same as here, but we eat it on or with bread like a spread.

That is how we basically eat it to. I think that I would like the onions in it. Thanks!

Yes and do choose the bigger white onions cause we have a smaller variety that's stronger to the taste that's colored violet we call "sibuyas bumbay" ( derived from the word Bombay and originated in India), kids don't like it but it's just fine with me. We don't usually call it an egg salad here, we just call it simply egg sandwich

No, I do not like egg salad but I love salad with spinach, apples and walnuts. I had this receipe from my friend. But you have to have rasberry vinegerate dressing, oh...so good. I am sure your eggs taste better because I have a friend who raise chickens and she said their eggs taste better. According to some article that I read that free range chikens's eggs taste better because their happier chikens.
