Okay, for years I've found different ways to play free games online. In many of the different places, they give you the option to actually chat with people. A lot of people have really turned themselves off from socializing. It is quite scary. I feel for some of these people and wonder if they will ever talk again.

Truthfully sites where people can play online games, Facebook, and sometimes even people who are actively posting here on myLot can end up often times secluding themselves and not wanting to be around others, and then become miserable lonely creatures for sure. Many times these people would Look Bad, smell bad, and quit caring. I myself am Glad there are times where I have to take time and do something else just to break up time for sure.

There have been times in my own online experiences where I have just stopped socializing. It has been truly amazing. I just didn't want to talk to anyone. This of course took place in the last 4 months when I decided to take a sabbatical from writing. I noticed that I too wanted to just shut off from society completely. But, then I got to thinking about it. I had a lot of different stresses going on in my life at the time. I felt embarrassed about some of them and didn't want to talk to anyone, not even my own husband. After being gone for that period of time, not only from writing, but from online communications in general, I realize that there is a whole world out there and it is okay to not communicate for periods of time. But, we all need to realize that we can't bottle everything up, we must let out some of the stresses or else it could be hard on our personal health.

Thankfully not everyone who plays online games is actually like that but I really can see your point in a number of ways. Some of them obviously are more casual people, it is just a way to escape from reality for a couple of hours every now and then. And really an escape from reality is just something that is really needed to maintain some degree of sanity every now and again. At least that is how I feel about the situation. Some do take it a bit too far, where the online game is not their escape from reality, but rather it is their reality. Then again, you have to wonder if these people would have been socializing that much to begin with. Or even if society is better off with them being shunted right out of the way. I do wonder about this sometimes. Yet many promising souls have been lost to the cyber reality of online gaming. It is sadly all too easy to see how addicting it may be. And some of them take things a bit too seriously. Its rather scary.

What truly gets me is that all these people are there and hardly talk. I went into one gaming room, there like 50+ people there and not one was actually talking. I understand escaping from reality, but, to shut off completely. Wow. Truly amazing.

You should note that some of the players in online games are really childish. They start arguments for petty reasons and don't let go of it. It's like a scene of typical high school in there!! But, when I play online, I happily make use of the chatting option. Heck, you might even make a few really good friends thanks to the online chatting business. :)

All valid points. I do utilize the chat features and chat with a few people. I've just run into some interesting situations. It can really be amazing at what you run into. As you know.
