All humans are blessed with knowledge so my mother said. Hence, we don't have to be told what is right. That said, why then that religion still want us to follow and obey rules when we know the rules already, as humans?

It matters most, so that all mankind knows where they originally came from and who created them. Religion is the foundation of God's love he wanna make sure we hear the good news and its promises to all mankind. Some people created new churches coz they believe they can change others and really knows what is the true meaning of existence and what God can offer Humans.Their statement is basing from the Bible, pastors or other leaders interpreted the Bible according to their understanding. Some people stick to catholic Church coz through priest preaching and its Bible reading it is God who commanded them to do. Spreading the good news before the final judgment take place.

Religion has always been around. It started as a binding force is hunter-gather groups. There are strong indications that there may be a genetic tie in to religious behavior and that evolution shaped it.

I see. Early humans had been humbled by the forces and creatures greater than them and that sense of smallness induced the idea that a 'creator' has to be there controlling everything to punish those that err. The natural disasters are then interpreted as means of punishment, and, from then on, guides are set down to help please the 'gods' to ensure salvation.

You are close but I think you are missing the two things that are universe to religious behavior. Religion cements a group and introduces a moral code which regulates a society. The idea of a creator was most likely a later development that came with the development of a founding religious mythology.
