Sehwag & Gambhir punished for bad tour or for the spat with Dhoni?

hi friends.
a certain news channel called it a spineless selection because they didn't axe that many players and give youngsters the chance.
zaheer,yadav and sehwag were rested and yusuf,dinda made it to the squad.
before going to the main theme,asia cup is a very short tournament where you can't go around experimenting with players.every game is potential knock out game.
with India suffering from a long draught of winning a tournament,it would be extremely stupid to mix things up.
now back to the topic.
we know it was actually a miracle zaheer played the whole test series so no problem with resting him.
yadav did the same and it would not do much good if they over played him.
sehwag has some injury or back spasm so he was not there.
but is it really the case?
sehwag's form was bad but so was the other batsmen in the squad like raina,rohit,jadeja.they were not axed and from the way selectors and BCCi is reacting,seems they didn't get the story straight.
lol srikanth says sehwag has shoulder injury which ofcourse is an old story and he forgot about the back spasm.
i am not sure many can understand why kohli was made vice-captain when Gmabhir is already the stand-in vice captain.
sure kohli played brilliantly in this series.wel give him the number 3 or 4 spot for him for the next year or so.
but why replace Gambhir?
Gambhir though a bit late,came through well in this series with two 90s to boot.
and as a captain he even whitewashed the kiwis.
so it didn't make any sense.
but looking it the other way,sehwag and gambhir are the only 2 guys who actualy spoke against Dhoni and even took a dig at him.
Gambhir questioned his method to taking the match to the last over and sehwag questions his honesty.
fast forward to 10 days,one lost his place and other lost his vice-captaincy.
are the selectors trying to say "go against Dhoni and u r fired " or just taking the elements causing the drift within the team?

Yes, Dhoni is getting good backing from selectors specially from srikanth..
This may be because of the fact that He is from CSK and Kris srikanth is also from same state..
Look in the squad,Dhoni(CSK),Raina(CSK),Ashwin(CSK),Jadeja(CSK) And all these CSK players will find place in playing 11 also..
I don't what is the mistake that Gautam Gambhir did?
What he said was absolutely right, If we had won that TIE match, then we wouldn't have been in this situation.According to me he was right, and me too felt that Dhoni is taking the match to very last over.Surely he is playing well and he has capability to make big hits but winning a bit early is better.
And as you said Gauti's captaincy is best as he had lead India to whitewash NZ, So why to pick virat as new vice captain when Gauti in team.So the drop of viru and the vice captaincy for Virat looks like some punishment given to viru and Gauti.
Selectors were unable to drop Gauti as he has scored well in CB series, otherwise he would have been also injured..
But Virat is also from Delhi, giving vice captaincy to him will differ much from giving it to Gautam Gambhir..
Any There was a cold war in the team, and giving punishment to only one group in that cold war is bad..

@ arunar if raina can completely turn the match on his day then viru can also completely turn the match on his day. So why we should avoid him. And except from last innings raina also didnt play well. Look at the average of raina for last 20 odi, it is not the best one for an indian middle order batsman. So i still stick to my view that csk players are having the advantage. Otherwise do you think that manoj tiwary is a poor player, and he is not capable to play for india?
And virat as vice captain: surely he is talented and future captain, but why should we choose him now when there is experienced gambhir in the team.

@venkit- Completely agree with you,its premature to give vice captaincy to Kohli.This is done just to downgrade Gambihr ,and like i always believe is another short sighted decision by our selection committee and Mr Srikanth.If performance is the yardstick Dhoni should have been sacked as Test captain,even as test player after humiliating back to back whitewashes.But that didnt happen.

I dont accept what you said venkit, you are looking that the players from CSK can anyone blame Dhoni, Raina, Ashwin performances in the past..on his day Raina can take the match signle handedly in winning way dont forget his contribution in the last match 320 chase, of course he is poor form then wat about Sachin.
Picking up Kohli as vice captain is 100% correct, he is very talented and maturing day by day of course he is captain for under-19 also.

I think the decisions are more related to the performances of the players rather than a few small arguments between a few players and the captain. Selectors are looking for a better future for Indian cricket team. That's why they are giving opportunity to Virat Kohli to handle responsibility as vice-captain.

i agree with you. Who prove himself he get chance and who did not prove he does not make place.
Dinda who prove him so much in ranji he make him place.
Its really a great selection by selector.

i never said anything about Dinda's selection.i welcome that.i am jst worried about the so-called axing.virat has impressed many with his batting and fielding but as a player he didn't impress many from the aussie crowd.
not a very admirable quality for the future captain?
why didn't the selectors give reason for taking vice-captaincy from gambhir?
we have to give kudos to the indian team though.
when the batting and bowling looked worse it has seen in years,the captain stresses on fielding.
even after poor series,they dont wanna use the term axing and opted for resting.

Sehwag is a player who has the ability to explode at any time against any team, giving India wonderful victories. It isn't good to evaluate him by just one series or a few matches. Gambir who wasn't with runs in the tests has made good runs in ODIs in the present tour in Australia. I think recently some kind of ego is working in Dhoni's mind, which is bringing imbalances in Indian cricket team.

The delhi players are becoming too big for their own good and this was necessary to bring some order. Sehwag has never displayed good leadership even at the IPL level where as Gambhir should have been more restrained in his speech. It is clear that the Delhi players have created a rift and Sehwag wants to assume captaincy. Dhoni and Kumble before him have done all the hard work and the Delhi boys want it to be handed to them on a platter.Ganguly was good. Dravid led from the front when others were reluctant to take captaincy responsibilities. Dhoni was the cool guy who handled the presence of several senior players very well and brought India victory after victory. The recent debacle against Eng and Australia has given these Delhi boys to stake their claim at captaincy but the BCCI has been clever by appointing another delhi player Kohli as the vice captain. Now Gambhir will sober down and concentrate on his game and Sehwag will recover his health and fitness and fight his way back into the team. This is aclever thinking on the part of BCCI and will do Indian cricket a lot of good. Even Dhoni should have been given a scare by resting him but then he seems to be on a good wicket with BCCI president Srinivasan who is also the owner of CSK!!!

i disagree with you about this matter. Because those who are selected for the asia cup everyone prove himself in ranji or dilip trophy.
And selector did not get any result from senior in australia tour and cb series.
So they going for young blood. And its a great choice. And its may be a great stage for dinda where he can prove himself again.
So i am very excited to see asia cup. Where india will get succes surely.
