Through technology today, a lot of opportunities opened for us. We meet and interact with people all over the world by means of internet. We were able to explore different culture via media. So if given the chance to learn a new language what would it be and why? I personally like learning Spanish because i find their music to be romantic but im not limiting myself in one language.

I have learned a little basic Turkish because of where I studied in high school. I wanted to be really good at it, but over the years I got only to where I am now, not any better than many of my friends. Right now the language I want to really learn to read, speak, and right is Japanese because of the Animes, mangas, shows, and games that I want to understand, which are mostly in Japanese without any translations. In our city, we speak the Chavacano dialect, which is known to be broken Spanish. It is therefore a little easier for us to understand and learn Spanish.

I've always wanted to learn Japanese for the longest time! I'm too engrossed with Japanese Culture that I want to learn their language. I'm now able to read some hiragana and understand some words and phrases but I really can't fluently talk.
But side from this, I also want to learn speaking in Chinese (Mandarin). I'm now able to talk in Chinese Fookien but have a long, long way to go to fluent in Mandarin. My family's Chinese so I want to still uphold some of our tradition (like speaking in Chinese) to the next generation.

I think if I was to learn another language I think it would have to be Chinese maybe, I used to volunteer in a Nursing Home and there were a lot of people from different countries, at the time I loved to be able to say hello to each of them in their own language so I think maybe I would like to know a little of many..

I would love to learn how to speak Chinese. It is with some embarrassment that I have Chinese blood but have never learned to speak the language. The reason for this is my father never spoke to us in Chinese and refused to enroll us in Chinese schools because the tuition fees were quite expensive. I do love my father, but as I grew older I saw how he deliberately destroyed all of the lives of his children. I remember one sad memory that he taught me when I was around twelve or thirteen that if I get a piece of jewelry I am not to keep it but to pawn or sell it right away. It was only a few years back that I realized what I was doing and now have stopped pawning any of my jewelry. By not learning how to speak Chinese my father was hoping that we would fail in gaining any connections in terms of business. Well, I guess you can never put a good man down because we were able to succeed even if we don't know how to speak Chinese. But I would love to learn it, even just the conversational Chinese so that when I travel China I'll be able to speak or at least understand what the locals are saying.

I can relate to your story. I do have some chinese blood. My father enrolled us in a chinese school but at that time i am a lazy student and was bullied at school to i transferred. I regret that :( I know some a little fokien but i cannot carry on conversation because my father only spoke to us in chinese sometimes. My father also view being able to communicate in chinese as an edge in the business world.

I'd learn Mandarin Chinese & Fookien Chinese because my guy is Chinese & it would be easier for me to adjust to them although not speaking in Chinese is not a problem to them because he grew up in the Philippines & he has Tagalog as his mother tongue.

If at all I were to learn a new language, then it would be french. I know it is the most common answer that people are going to respond here, but somewhere I find the language pulling me towards it. I always wanted to learn, but I am not all that serious about it. I just have this thing in my mind that I would life to learn this language!
Happy Mylotting!
Have a nice day.

Even though I would be in higher demand career wise if I was fluent in Spanish, I personally would rather learn Italian if I had the option. Being Italian myself I would love to be able to travel abroad and communicate with the Italian citizens in their native language comfortably and confidently without having to look like a completely lost American tourist.

It would probably be most wise to learn Spanish as there are a lot of Spanish speaking people that live here in the US. Honestly though I think if they are going to live here though they should learn English. I would never live in a foreign country without attempting to learn the language. I would honestly love to learn to speak Italian. Both of my grandparents were from Italy and I really want to go there some day. I don't just want to go there for a short vacation I want to see the entire country it looks so beautiful in movies, so I think it would be great to learn the language.

Hello, dazzledlady. I want to learn Mandarin and Tagalog. They are great languages, but for some reason, I think Tagalog will be more difficult. I have not started learning but now that I have a very nice lady I talk to in the Philippines, I need to start soon...you know, to impress her. JK. Anyway, I must take time out of my now busy schedule to do this.
For the longest time, I wanted to learn Hebrew, and Greek. I have not stopped looking into learning them, but it is so time, and brain, consuming... I just dont know if I will ever get to Mandarin, or Tagalog. So there you have it. I will take my time in learning 4 languages. I know some Spanish, but that is another story... Have a great day. :)
