Welcome to mylot
At least you've learned and now you know where you have done wrong.
I also experienced same when I was a newbie,so what i did is, I check other mylotters topic and keep commenting.
At the same time, trying to figure out what kind of topic to start with, that is not a question and answer type or a poll type.
Try to check other discussions especially from vets and compare from your previous topics that are deleted and you will know more.
Have a good day and enjoy mylotting

jaiho and dazzeled but just read the guidelines as the dos and do nots are right there to be studied and learned. thats how I have avoided getting discussions deleted. it pays to learn the dos'and the do nots.

mylot is a discussion site and if our topic has nothing which can be discussed about then mylot would usually delete those
create a topic which have something for user to discuss about
vesurs topic can be create but there should be something to discuss there just asking which one is better is not a good way of creating a discussion

MyLot is NOT a question and answer site. There are other sites for questions and answers.
MyLot is for discussions. Make sure that when you start a topic there is something to discuss (and that it is within the Guidelines).

It normal to make mistakes, specially for newbie. But more important is how you learn from it. Some newbies not even listen when veteran user warn about their mistakes, some of them even challenge veteran about it (I see it one or two times)
At least you learn your lesson, it gonna make you better on your next posts.
Like in the real world, every sites had rules to follow. Breaking on those rules had consequences. In mylot, breaking guidelines mean:
1. Down grade star and reputation
2. Loosing earning (for that discussion)
3. The hard part, banned
Have nice day .....

I don't think the use of versus or or in your posts could make it to be deleted. Probably there are other mistakes that you, or someone who answer your post, did. Like the others said to you, you should read and memorize the do and don't from the guideline. It is difficult, but with time you will know the main idea.
Try to follow the tips that the vets give to you about your posts and try to analyze the older posts to see the similarities between them. And don't worry, it is normal to make some mistakes. Just learn with it and grow up here. Happy mylotting.

If a post is asking 'this or that?' as in laptop versus desktop for example, then it is a poll. Polls are not allowed here because they leave nothing to discuss.

But we can't judge a post by its title. For example, a post with this title: Laptop versus Desktop can have two texts:
- Do you prefer laptop or desktop?
- I wanna buy a computer, but I am in doubt if I buy a laptop or a desktop. One is easier to carrier, but the other one is cheaper. I don't know. Can the owners of desktop and laptops give me hints on how to decide?
Can you see? One is a poll, but the other one is a question that can be discussed by a lot of people. I don't know if mylot does this kind of verification, but I think I show my point. Happy mylotting.

Indeed when a topic, even though it is still a poll, gices us something to discuss, then admin usually allows it to stay. He has stated this in his activity too.
It is up to us to create a topic that gives others something to create a discussion. Just asking which we prefer does not fit that description.

Hi dazzledlady,
I myself have made some violation. It was actually on my first day and I asked for the time of everyone. It was instantly deleted LoL! After that I tried reading the do's and don't and observed how myLotters are posting. What I always likes reading when I was new here was this type of discussion. Through reading such discussion like this it helps me to know as well what and what not to do.
Welcome to myLot!

Thanks! Starting a discussion about my violation helps and clarify things for me more than by reading the guidelines. I like how other veterans contribute their ideas on how it should be in this site

hio dazzled lady why not go to the guidelines and read the dos and donts, in other words rules, of making discussions. I know this:
the deletion had nothing to do with use of verus and or on it. it broke one of the don'ts. if you had read and reread the guidelines you would know the rules then you would kow what not to write a
discussion about. Knowing what not to do is really the greatest of help in making a discussion. also mylot always sends a notification telling you the rule uou broke.learn them as it will really help you. my only deleted file was because a person flamed me in her response and I lost my temper and flamed back. the violation was a flaming discussion so 'read the quideline and know the ru les then you will not break them.

I feel the same way too. Getting used to this will take time. Let's just enjoy other people's opinion.
