My laptop is already more than six years old. that's how old my laptop is. I'm wondering if anyone in here can give me advice. Because my battery is 100% dead if I will pull the plug. So I'm wondering if I can directly plug the powercord without the laptop battery? I know its sound insane but the reason why I want to remove the dead battery because its heat up after two to three hours. And I'm online for 12 to 15 hours a day so imagine that I need to restart my computer every two hours and take a 30 minutes break just to cool down my laptop battery again.

Yes, it's okay to do that since your battery is already damaged. My laptop is only 1year and 3 months old and it's battery is already malfunctioning. In the sense that it discharges so fast. The time I bought this, I'm already removing the battery and plugging it directly to the power source. But I guess it weakened the life of my battery being stocked at one place.

I guess that's also the reason why your battery got damage? because of the fluctuation of the volts? I really don't. know but I suspected that's what happen in here. I know its hard to make a decision without consulting an electrician or a repairman about this.

I just buy a new laptop and ask technician if I can run my laptop by removing the battery. And if its advisable. And so far they say its advisable. So I really want to follow their instruction. But before I do that I will going to do that in my old laptop. at least if its not going to work its my old laptop and not my new one that going to get damage. lols.

Do you have laptop? do you use your battery or not?
I notice that when I remove my laptop battery my laptop heats up faster. I don't know if theirs a connection but I decided to return to battery and use the battery.
Also since I have two laptops now I decide to use my laptop alternately.
That means every week I change laptop.

If you have the UPS turned on, it's okay but without it, it is rather risky, especially when the electricity is suddenly cut off, it may distroy the hard disk.

I don't have ups right now your the second person to say that. Actually I'm thinking of buying ups also but I divided to either buy ups or buy new battery. But I guess right now ups is more advisable than buying new battery as I don't bring my laptop outside the house.

I am Doing the Same things before 6months ago. I think it's the Better idea to without replace the Old better Idea. But it's the Bad idea may be to change new Laptop parts, some time Power failure make sudden off of the Computer it's not Safe for the Ram and hard disk it cause some Problem. My laptop now having some issues i think that may be occured because of that reason. So Please be Safe about the issue.

I'm little confuse on what you really want to say in here. I don't know if I understand you right. But changing part in laptop battery? I don't think theirs some part on battery itself that we can change.

The use of battery in laptops is for you to able to use it outdoors, and of course when power source suddenly stops you have your battery which doesn't interrupt your files from closing all of a sudden. Thats the main use of the battery...and with your question, yes indeed, it is safe to plug in directly without the battery, the only problem you might encounter is when you have trouble with power source, and your files will be corrupted. The best thing for you to do is to buy another battery maybe two so you have extra, it would be a big help when you use your battery too much in order for it not to overheat.

I went to a computer shop and I'm surprise that its costly just to tell them to check my computer I need to pay the check up fees. just for checking what is the problem of my laptop. And even though I'm just telling them that the problem is the battery. They say they still need to do general check up.

Yes, you could. The power cord isn't just for the charging of the battery. And running your laptop using direct current from the socket wouldn't harm your unit. The only drawback of this is you lose the portability of the laptop. It's just like you're using a desktop now.

Actually I really don't see the difference. Because with or without the battery the procedure is the same. the only difference is that my laptop will be lighter since theirs no batter attached on it. And if theirs a brown out or blackout I can't save my files.

Yes, it's advisable to do it that way actually. Most battery got spoilt or have shorter battery life because they were overcharged. However, I'm not sure if your computer heats up because of your battery. It may be due to your fan collecting dust so you may need to clean up your fan as well.

It's not insane. In fact it's a good thing to do. A technician once advised me to remove the battery of my laptop when i'm just at home so as to conserve the battery. So what you're doing is right.

That's good news. I still have a reservation but its look promising that its okay. I thought my laptop will explode or something if I remove the battery and plug the powercord straight to the socket.

Thanks for the advice. anyway I will going to wait for more poster and lets see if they have the same opinion as you. Right now my concern is if I do that and my laptop will explode or something then I'm in the worse position as I don't have money to buy new battery how much more new laptop.

Actually, it is always a good idea to use your laptop without battery on when you can use power plug. This helps you to keep your battery in good condition. If you use both at the same time, your battery life will reduce significantly which renders it totally useless after some time.
You should always use battery only when you are out. Because battery allows you to have mobility. While you shouldn't use the power plug during bad weathers as your laptop may burn down.

If only I know I did this before my battery was burned out. my laptop is already 6 yrs old so imagine how old my laptop is. I'm hoping that I can find a way to extend the life of my laptop now that I know if I will bought new laptop I will remove laptop battery and plug it straight to the socket.

As the others here stated, that is a good thing to do, it makes your battery last longer.
However, I suggest when you do use your laptop, you don't plug it into the socket. Always use a surge protector or UPS(Uninterrupted power supply) and plug it into that. A power surge or outage can damage the device quite a bit, especially with the battery removed.

I do agree and I know it too. but since I don't have money to buy so right now its not in my option list. If I want to buy ups then I think its better I buy new battery instead. But thanks.
