Applicants usually request "team work" skill when they recruitment. However, no many candidates understand how it is important. So, they usually miss it. Last year, I worked with a new staff. I inquired her building a system product code in a uniform. In order that we can work together easily. Because I and her will use them for works. She agreed. However, one month after that, when I need to use this system, I knew that she didn't do what I said. She build them following her way, don't base in old system. So, I can't use these product codes. It took too much time to fix the system product code. It was terrible! It was a bad experience about "team work" :(

Hi Tkon, indeed a good team work skill is always preferred in either a big or small organisation. Without the team work skill, every staff would do according to their own ways and makes the company system goes into big problem in the long run. That's why, it is always better to choose staff that likes to co-operate and can work as a team. I always plan well and work together with my senior and junior staffs when i was still working. It is really a big accomplishment when we see our company had excel due to the co-operation from all the staffs. That's why, we should always have a good set of rules, so every staff will be able to participate and done their jobs well for the benefit of the future of the company.

The team leader has to make sure that each member of his or her team is accustomed with the task to do and nothing is ambiguous. A well-defined strategy should be in place to make team members perform the job fast and efficient. Unless the team members are feed with the initial input correctly, how can one expect to complete the job satisfactorily? Team work needs to be established from a baseline and it has to be defined thoroughly. For e.g, if a team of programmers doing a project they need to be in perfect understanding as to what to do with the coding. If one of the team members fail to understand the objective of the project, then integration could be a fatal failure.

I agree that team leader is very important. Here we don't know a person like that. We only work together.

I think what was missing is that you didn't pay more attention to talk together in the process. communication here in the process was flying away. both of you have to buy off the failure. the principle had been set up at the very beginning before doing nothing. next time, make a guideline first, then do under the guideline. anything confusing, sit together, discuss for clear agreements.

Indeed, sitting down and discuss those confusion while at work is a very nice ideas. My ex-company always having a weekly staff meeting, to solve any confusion which arising at our workplace. At least, everyone of us are not confused with our works anymore.

Discussion is not problem in this issue. Because we had a meeting to agree about it before she began it. We still have a meeting every week but we only discuss about other issue. When I need to use this code system, I have just realized the problem.

Team work is a skill that needs to be developed. Just because it is needed for a job doesn't mean you can have it in a snap. It is a process that needs to be developed. It takes a lot of time. It may have be a bad experience, but there's a lesson learned on it.

Hi friend, sorry to hear that you had this bad experience.but,i think as a team leader, you should make sure all people in the team have really got what their role is and how to do it in the right way. you have to coordiniate and communicating with them while you're supervising the project. and the new staff, she really needed to consult you first since she didn't know how to makte it turn out as the way you wanted.

Communication is the key from misunderstanding in the working place, it also minimizes mistake and safe the time. So you might want to start sitting down with her/him and ensure that she/he does understand thoroughly what you expect from the project that you about to give her.

some people find it hard to work to "in a team" but then they could do a different type of job and be good in a team. i think it all depends on the type of jobs. maybe the lady you work with doesnt actually understand her job role as well as she should and she not coping to why the team work isnt actually working.

Teamwork isn't just about using each other people's work. It's all about coordination to ensure that one's work would benefit the team. Apart from that, I don't think she understood the importance of basing on the old system. I guess if you have coordinated better, she would have done given you the output you need.

Actually, I don't really think that's an issue of teamwork. Teamwork is more about cooperative efforts. When a person refuses to cooperate or just can't work with certain people, there's no teamwork. Since the new staff already agreed, she might not either not be familiar with the old system or finds it more efficient to do it her way. But whatever is the case, what she is lacking is more of communication skills. Either consulting you about the program or inform you in advance that it will be done that way is not a difficult task and should have been done.

Team work is very important,i think. As the society develops, more and more work calls for team work.Only one person can't succeed in completing it,in which case, everyone involved in the work should be bound together.if one of them fails to do his part, the whole work will be failed at last.
