Hi, i have a problem on accessing websites like Mediafire, or a few more sharing files websites. Everytime i try to open these websites, i get "the connection was reset". This happens on all web browsers. Anyone knows why this happens? I think i am lucky today because a script on my web browser got an error then i get to download from Mediafire, i know this will not last long. Anyone knows what to do to solve it?

Hold the Windows Key, press "R". This should bring up the Run dialog. Type "CMD", press enter. In the command prompt, type "tracert www.mediafire.com". If the tracert goes over 5 hops, you are outside of most ISP's networks. If it is less than 5 hops, I would contact your ISP. In this situation, since I can open it fine, and it seems a few others can as well, I would assume it would drop in 1-3 hops. If you need more help, feel free to ask me!

Hi Jared, the mediafire is working now because of the script error on my browser today but i know it will come back. I will try your methods tomorrow and see if it works. It would be a waste if i can't download anything from the biggest sharing websites. BTW, what do you mean "Hops"? Can you explain? Thanks!

I can open Mediafire without any problem here.. Perhaps it's your internet connection issue? Try to open those sites indirectly via anonymous proxies, such as kproxy.com. Can you open it? If you can, there's something wrong with your internet connection, try to reboot your modem. This might help.

Hi Varier, yes. Everyone doesn't have this problem and it's only me. How do i use anonymous proxies and why do i need to use it? Sorry, i never heard of it so need more info. My internet connection is OK, i was opening other tabs as well on the same browser and it all loads perfectly fine.

For me, it's the simplest way to check whether your internet service provider (ISP) can access to certain sites or not (and it's more simple to give people instruction with this :P). Sometimes some sites can't be accessed from your ISP because of failed DNS lookup or such, while some other sites are just perfectly loaded fine. The usage is simple, go to a website that you want to check via that anonymous proxy. If it loaded well, then the problem lies in your internet service.

It must be a server problem on their side. Try again later or at a different time.
