Hi,
We all are so much involved in our day to day work and at times we feel monotonous.
Agreed, weekends can be relaxed ones but then we have to be ready for the next week.
Recently I got a great chance to be off from my worries official and to some extend personal too. Though the break was not even a week, but I made the most of it, in fact, enjoyed each moment. Since it was a wedding at another city, the travel, sleepless nights etc made me tired but that trip now is a memorable one and I think such short break from routine make us relaxed.
Have you ever had such experience? What do you feel - is it important to take a break?

HI viju!
I agree that we all need a break from the monotony of life. If we do not take a break our life will become dull and drab and we will feel bored with our life.
It is nice to hear that a marriage ceremony in a different city offered you an opportunity to take a break and despite your hectic schedule, you enjoyed the break.
Last month I too got a similar opportunity when I attended a marriage in a different city. It was a wonderful change for me. I could visit the city and could see some new places. The marriage function gave me a welcome break and like you I still recall those memorable moments spent along with other relatives during marriage ceremony.

I can understand your point.
You know it very well - "everything comes at a price" (so would be our vacation/trip/break).

I seldom take a break but it's important to me to safe energy. So it's more a must otherwise I will break down completely. I need a regular life to stay kind of fit. One sleepless night will mean I will be broke for weeks :-( a memorable trip will not be memorable to me anymore if that is the case.

hi,
Good to know you take break to save energy and keep fit.
Even i thought I won’t be energetic until I get my sleep but few of the wedding programs/functions kept us engaged and in fact it is the group of friends only so the fun was more and others had a back seat.
take care

I used to work many hours each day at a restuarant, while also taking care of the house and my child. I used to start at 9am and work until 8 thirty in the evening, come home exhausted and do all the chores. Now I no longer work at that resturant, I am still feeling the effects of exhaustion and sometimes I take TOOOOOOOOO many breaks, ha ha, as in, I often feel extremely lazy and unmotivated. I may have to do a certain something, but I cant easily find a focal point and actually stick to it. I think my body wants a long vacation, I find I have times when I am scattered and cannot get started on a task. When I do, I put a lot of energy into it. Its just getting started that is somewhing of a pain :)
Do give yourself a break whenever you ca, you DESERVE it!

Yes, I agree...I have been especially tired and lazy for the last few weeks, but I guess my body is talking to me and alerting me to its needs. Today, I have begun the new week feeling more energetic and a lot more ready to tackle all of the challenges that lie ahead! Glad to hear that you like taking cat naps, I have never been able to sleep during the day - hey, maybe its high time I learnt :) Hope your week is cool!
Take care

friend, the naps during off days but certain times we are busy with other weekend works etc which don't allow to get the afternoon nap. Anyways..so far my week started off well and we are having celebrations at office. Its HOLI - the festival of colors celebrated in India and we get a holiday. This spring fesival is played with scented powder made flowers - ofcourse they use chemicals these days, applying and throwing the colored powder on each other... and yes, i look forward to...

Hi
I can understand how difficult it was for you to manage work, home and everything. I know i too become too lazy sometimes to do the household chores and love taking short nap in the afternoon on weekends. Definitely this deserving break was a welcome one and really it helped me to refresh myself.
Now i do have certain plans for break/s. take care.

You have to take some kind of break in your life otherwise you're just going to get completely tired out with everything that you need to do. When you're tired out, it means that you can't complete your work to the best standard possible, and this would mean that it would have a very negative impact on the way that you live. So, it is more than worth taking a break every now and again if it means that you're going to be able to come back home and be ready for work again when you've taken your break; it will be worth it in the long term for you.

hi,
I too feel it’s a worth a while and without break we do become dull and monotonous. This break was more enjoyable than expected and the happy memories linger on..
Since it was a new place, it was good to meet new people, learn about their traditions etc. Take home experience was great..thanks for sharing here.

Since I open my own shop now, I must fully commit myself to the shop. After all, if I don't do that, who will. But I do make sure I take a break at least once/a day a month. It's like recharging battery. After the break, I'll feel more energetic and fresh to work. Money is important to me, so is being happy to work to earn for it.

hi prinzcy,
i like your idea of recharging the battery. Indeed it is so. We are so much engaged and have our own roles to play and what happens is we forget to take care/ relax and spend our own time..Good to know about your balancing the two money and work with necessary breaks in between. Have a happy and healty times. take care.

It is very important to me to take a break. I think that breaks are very helpful. It helps to break up the work load. And it usually refreshes me enough to get back to what I was doing. I haven't had a vacation break for a while. But I'm hoping to take a weekend one this summer. It will be a busy one that involves traveling and going to events. But I think we will really enjoy it.

I hope so. It always seems when I plan something something else happens that make it not possible to do. Like a financial emergency happens where we need to use the funds for other things instead of a trip. I'm hoping though that I can pull this off without any surprises. I'm trying to plan four months in advance. If I get the tickets for the events them our trip for the event is a go. Then I just have to worry about paying and preparing for other things as we get closer. It will be nice if we can do this.

Just read this: " All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy." Break taking is important. At lease you have 5 minutes break after lunch. You can do it by just relaxing on your chair, forgetting your work for a moment. You will be fresh after that.
Make good use of your weekend.

I never really had an experience where we took a break away from the current city I'm living in but I agree that taking a break is very important. Without breaks, you're bound to break if you had too much work. I know the feeling because I am currently in the middle of recovering from my current illness. It was found out it was due to stress and from lack of enough rest and break from school work and pressures of deadline that cause my continuous attacks of different kinds of illness so now I had to relax and be stress-free--which is costing me money and time away from school.
I hope my life in the future won't be like this, though. So wish me luck. Happy MyLotting!

Dear sinfulrose,
I sincerely feel you should get proper sleep and rest and try to overcome your stress by reading, practicing yoga, even dancing / aerobics helps you a stress free life. See we all have our own problems right but we need to balance ourselves in all our roles. I do wish you get some good relaxation and a very happy and healthy life ahead.
Take good care of yourself friend.

Without a Break we can't able to refresh our mind. So Break is always need to run our day by day life. But in the Busy world we have always restless, we are taking leaves for our break, but it was not spented to our rest it's only for some purpose like participate in functions and going to any other Place it always makes as restless but those restless days some time Make Good Memories some time. Without taking break noting we can't do.

hi,
Family gatherings are always a wonderful experience. You know what, whenever i attend any family functions, i do spend time talking/chatting a lot at night with other relatives (some are of my age and whom we meet occasionally), that make some disturbance for the elders but then we don't get such chances frequently as most of my relatives are staying in different cities. LOL.

After school and work, I find very little time to take a break. My weeks are nonstop and there's almost no free time. Any day that I have off to just relax is a gift and I try to make the most of it. Sometimes I just want to be lazy and stay inside, and others I want to get up and do something.

Hi,
It has been same with me too. Manage home, children, school, work etc make us so much involved and the short break or weekends just pass on without much relaxing time. I agree, sometimes I too feel so lazy to do the household chores but this break I had was a tension-free one. Thanks for sharing and welcome to my lot. happy lotting.

to take a break is to rejuvenate. sometimes we thought that we are tired physically and that we need bed rest, but actually it is the thought and the thinking that drains the energy...breaking away from daily routine and experiencing a different day and different place, refreshes the mind, it is like going back to your normal day fully charged...for me to take a break is really for the sake of my sanity, lol...

It is very important for me to take break. All work with no play will make jack a dull boy after all. With the breaks, our minds will be rejuvenated and fresh ideas will come out we will less likely to be provoke easily and we will be able to relax our body from the physical labors. It will lessen the stress level and will not feel burn outs.

Of course. We,modern folks are always entitled to work so that we can survive that we don't have time for ourselves.Play is not all that bad.All work is because eventually, you'll go crazy doing that all the time.

Yes, it is very important to take some break. Sometimes we feel tired physically, sometimes we feel tired from our hearts. No matter what kind of tiredness, we need have a break, with which we can refresh and go back again into our work.
I think travelling is a good way to relax. Though you may feel travelling is time energy consuming, but from the bottom of our hearts, we are relaxing, therefore, it can recharge us and make us more energetic to go back to work.

Taking a break is very important to me, even if it is coming here to relax and enjoy discussions with my friends. Going to school full time is hard, but add raising a family and now having my husband home for 2 more weeks because he had surgery, can be stressful. (I know there are women who do more, who go to school, raise a family, and have a job outside the home, I can't see how they do it, they are stronger than I am)
Anyway, my breaks are not long, just about 10-15 minutes a few times during the day, then I am off to write up a paper or taking quizzes and doing housework the rest of the day..

Hi,
Hope you husband is fine and you are taking good care of him. I think we, women are talented enough to handle any/ all pressures of life – be it husband, kids, home, work, boss, friends…… the list can go on and on. LOL. Wishing you best of everything in life and of course do share your write up. Take care.

hi,
Short break is refreshing and it is tiring after a day’s work. But I also have other responsibilities towards husband, children, their studies, home, cooking, work and what not…. So it becomes really tough to take sufficient breaks…..but sometimes the routine make me sick & tired.

The last place I worked, I didn't get much time off. I was constantly working. And because I did not own a car, the long work day was even longer because of travel time. The only time I actually received time off was because I was too sick from work, working too many days in a row with odd shifts, and not getting enough sleep. On top of not receiving any time off when I asked for it, so I was back to working every day, even when I was going back to school. The bosses kept telling me how I was not living healthy enough, and I need to start living better, and I always countered by asking for time off to rest, especially since they knew I was working and going to school, and had no day off whatsoever. This time, I value whatever time off I get. Since people knew my availability better than I did, they always asked for me to do something for them whenever I had the time to do it. So now, whenever I have the time off, I turn my phone off, get away from the computer, and just do what I want to do. I have been doing things for people for far to long, and don't have a clue about how to enjoy myself.

Hi,
This is the problem with the hard working people. I used to be like that but gradually I learnt to refuse to others and developed smart working skills, which got appreciated by others. I am happy to be of help but not risking our health or by over working etc. It is time you give enough time to enjoy and relax mentally as well as physically.

Hi,
Oh no.. I had this opportunity after a long long gap. Though I missed my kids and husband for a while and the cell phone bill shot up but no worries and I would suggest you to go out for a while. I do take off for the purpose but out to a different city, meeting people of other culture etc are a great experience to me.
Thanks for your inputs and welcome to mylot and this discussion.
