Writing procrastination.....

So here it is a lovely Saturday morning, I have articles due for a couple of the sites that I work for and I find myself not writing the articles. I can't believe that I'm dragging my feet to actually write an article. I wonder if it has to do with the lovely weather that is developing outside. Maybe a pad of paper, cup of coffee and the outdoors would help get me back on track. Then again, I could also go wash dishes, sweep the kitchen floor or some other chore that needs to be done. Isn't it so silly how we can find ways to procrastinate and not work on something we know has to be taken care of?

i have heard that sometimes a writer would rather clean the toilet than write which means to me that you cannot force words onto paper, you have to let them flow. go do something else and then come back to it.

You are correct. You can't force the words. Then there is trying to find a topic that will help someone or get them to want to read about a particular subject.

I am the same way. I have paperwork to do for work and I am just sitting here on mylot and watching tv. Sometimes it's nice to just sit back and relax on my day off I dont want to have to worried about work and money.

I try not to work on my days off. I usually get all the other stuff done, but now, that I'm working from home and writing again, I really don't have a day off necessarily. So, it gets even more difficult.

it is really a monster. procrastination is one of the biggest challenges for aspiring writers to really jumpstart their careers. well, there is always tomorrow to correct oneself and start as imagined. some people have successfully overcome this monster. i know i still have to find my own way on how to deal and overcome this.

I will agree that it is a monster. Today, I guess I was thinking about all the other little projects I've been leaving around my home unaccomplished as well. I did finally get the article written, then turned around and got most of the other stuff done. Finally exhausted and ready for a break.

Hi Chulce, I hate it when it happens too. Somehow we cannot help feeling guilty and stressful for not doing the work that we know must be done. The best is to get it done, and then be done with it. The feeling is great when we finally manage to get things done.

Yes, it is silly and sometimes even funny. I am still laughing at the fact that I started actively exercising and learning to take professionally looking photos of nature just because I felt lazy to sit down and start writing the articles I was supposed to write.

It took me almost two hours before I even got off my butt to start writing the article that I needed to. I then had a rough time even forming the sentences. So, I stopped and started playing a game of scrabble to see if it would help get me going. HA!!! Made me want to play the game even more.

People do tend to procrastinate and I guess it is one way of our body telling us to take it slow and relax a bit. Being lazy is another issue hehe, I think it is ok to postpone things for awhile to be able to create a better product as long as you meet the deadlines.

I hate it when I get like that. I try to set myself writing goals, but it never works out because I write more when I feel like I don't need to. I have to make my goals meet my abilities or true ambition - which isn't much at times! It's kind of like the joke about the man telling his dog to lie down and the dog sits, so he says, "Sit!"
