Does your child learn something in the spare time?

Here it seems that the children are quite busy and their schedule is so full. They will go to learn playing the piano, English, maths, Chinese, painting, dancing, taekwondo and so on. Perhaps we a don't want our children to lose at the beginning. I just arrange my child to learn to play the piano and English. I think it is already enough.

The only person here near a child is my grandson. He is a little engineer nine years old. In his spare time he takes foam cups, boxes, straws, and such and makes all kinds of things. He take a Lego project and have it put together in less than an hour. I think he is learning quite alot.

My children are being homeschooled and the only classes they attend outside the home are the ones they are interested in - music for the older one and cricket for the younger one. The older one is learning to play the keyboard, guitar, drums and the sitar (indian instrument).

It is always great to have children learning other than academic education. Here we have vacation classes for children. I think it would good to provide them with different skill classes during vacation. There are Bible classes during vacation for children in church. I think painting, dancing,m computer classes, etc can be some of the classes provided for children.

Studious child - Is he really reading?
Well that is good. It is always better to make some ways for our children to learn something during spare time other than just playing around. Of course they should not be deprive of playing because that is what would give them the most happiness at this point in their life but it is also good to start building up their intellect through those various lessons. Just make sure they are enjoying what they are doing and that they don't feel the lessons are too burdensome.

i agree that is alot for little children to learn, all my kids are almost grown and do not live with me,but when they did we only did a few things at a time, and i never made them do anything they did not want to do, the minute the stopped liking it, i took them out if the class as i dont support pushy mother who make there kids do things against there will.. my kids did not ask to be in alot, only gymnastics which they were very good at, and my daughter took dance class clogging she was very good as well.. unlike my sister s kids who was into everything under the sun, she put them in so much that she was running eveynight after work with not a minute to spend time alone with the kids for so many projects. it was way overtop in my opinion, i would rather just do a few things and spend quality time at home with my kids.. at home, with a good home cooked meal.. and study time.. along with games or tv time as a family...

Here in China, children is very busy in their spare time. My senior's daughter, now is still nine months, begin to learn English now. Her mother play the English radio tapes for her, though she still can not speak any word. I think to many children here, study is the only way for them to change their futures. So begin at an early age is necessary in some degree.

I live in the US and there are some areas that "overbook" their children, feeling that they need all of these classes to be ahead of the game when they are older. My three year old is just starting to take swim lessons and I hope to get her involved in tumbling or dance as well. She is learning a bit of spanish, but that is just from watching the children's tv show Dora the Explorer. As she is older, I will look at her academic needs. If i feel that she is truly behind in an area, I will find the help that she needs, whether from extra help in the school or finding a tutor.
