Yesterday, Southern Indiana was hit by several tornadoes that demolished a couple of small towns and killed up to 13 people, including a 4 year old baby ripped from his mother's arms. The news has shown pictures all day of the damage done in these towns and it is so sad to see the loss these people have suffered. Have you ever lived through a tornado? Also, there were some great photos taken by storm chasers and I was thinking that is one job that I don't want to do. Would you ever want to be a storm chaser?

I don't want to look at the news because I do not want to see the poor devestation that people have gone through. I've been sending up prayers because of the destruction though. I've heard whole towns were destroyed. Being a storm chaser is definitely not something I would want to do for a living.

I know that when I hear anything about a tornado coming my way I get very scared. There are parts of this state that get really hit hard by them, and it's scary. Just the sounds and the fact that a couple of years ago, I was living in a place where only a few miles down the road houses were ripped from there foundations. Such scary scary things.

No, I wouldn't want to be a storm chaser. This year is starting out with disasters already. There were 10 last year. Several tornadoes already this year. It's scary.

I don't think that I would want to be a storm chaser either. It would be exciting, but I would be too scared to ever do it.

I couldn't be a storm chaser. I was terrified when those storms came through here too. They really did a lot of damage here too but nowhere near what they did to neighboring states. I was lucky where I was at. I have never been in one but very close on a few occasions. In Alabama, I lived there for a couple of years, there was once that there were tornado sirens going off and I had my kids in the bathtub covered with a little mattress. It touched down about 10 miles from where I was and it tore that little town up. I'll never forget the clothes hanging out of the trees when I drove through there the next day.

Jen, that would be awful. I am glad that you are okay and that the storms didn't do much damage at your place.

Tornadoes are uncommon in our country but there was one morning when I heard, felt and seen a nasty kind of wind that came out of the blue. It came with great noise, the trees were moving wildly, I was so scared I closed the door and had a hard time doing it because of the strong wind. A big tree nearby fell. I was so scared of that evil wind which I had never experienced before.

I think that all storms are scary. I hope that I never see a tornado personally.

Yes I have heard about this destruction all to well again recently. I really wish there were a way to stop these devastating and catastrophic things from happening, as well as the other disasters such a s earthquakes, etc. The world is always a scary place where you'll never know how or where you'll be the next week little own year, anymore. It makes me sad to know so many innocent lives will be lost and the devastation so bad. I don't watch the news much either when this happens to to not wanting to lok at other's being sad, etc after what they have lost or their neighborhoods torn down, etc. I do hate these disasters. I've never been in one and the closest ever I was near one was last August (but that was a hurricane) and my cousin lost their entire house, living next to the river.

Yes, the devastation and destruction that comes along with these storms is awful. It is another reason to be thankful for all that you have and for the life that you have. It could all change in a moment's notice!

i kind of lived thro a tornado back in april last year. where i live we havent had a tornado ever where i live and i am 23 yrs old. my aunt me and my kids were driving to take us home and we thought we were running from a tornado forming right beside us (the clouds we circling pretty close to use and we saw some thing flying in the air) so we ran the light and actually ran straight in to the big tornado that had just demolished a store. we managed to pull off and find cover in someones house. very thankful they let all of us take cover there. as far as becoming a storm chaser....i do like to watch storms a lot and i think it would b a fun job but i have a family to worry about. :)
