Hello mylotters! I was thinking of looking for a job that can give me a ticket to roam the Earth. I know it has to depend on my abilities and interests. But the problem is, I have lots of interests and I don't know what capabilities require those jobs. I would love to hear about your interests and strong points to land a job that I had mentioned. You also need to tell me what jobs are those so that I would know what are my options. I would really appreciate if you can share this to me.

some journalists make pretty far journeys into other countries. However, I don't know if I could recommend that job to you. Look at Syria, Afghanistan or other trouble spots ... high risk of being kidnapped and killed... perhaps the best method would be if you win a $1,000,000 and go wherever you like with the money. But if you have no $$ you can also use the internet for safely travelling other countries of the world :-)

@ demibug, good luck, perhaps you'll hit the jackpot :-) @ dazzledlady, if you know someone in a country you'd like to go you could simply ask him to take a camcorder with him, establish an internet link with him and tell him where to go, i.e. what you want to see - live! Given that the connection is fast enough that would be almost like being there. I think in the near future we'll have something like holo decks as in Star Trek with 3D experience of picture, sound, smell and other ambient characteristics. Perhaps you'd not be able to take a bath at a beach but the impressions would be close to reality. Still, it would be nothing more than fiction and it would require fancy as well as the readiness of the user to be 'deceived'.

Be a pilot, a flight steward/stewardess, or a seaman... What are your interests by the way? It's difficult to suggest if we don't know what will be good for you. Like being a pilot, that requires a certain interest and skill. I don't know what else could guarantee a constant trip around the world. Though I believe that most high ranked professionals can travel when they want to. I don't want to travel for work though. I want to travel for a vacation, that way I can truly enjoy my time there. There are also jobs that you work abroad, but it's not travelling. Nurses for one, and domestic helpers. I know of one person who's a graduate of a computer course but she entered as a domestic helper somewhere in Europe. I think she's wealthier than us. And she has seen lots of sights. Her employer is good to her, so all's good. My friends who are nurses abroad also has lots of pictures of their travels.

If you're a nurse, then why not a nurse? Cruises sound good.

I'm actually a nurse. I was thinking of applying for a job in which I can travel. I was considering being a flight nurse or in cruises. But I'm also open to any job in which I can enjoy doing.

If you're fluent in another language, you could take the Foreign Service exam and you might be assigned to another country. If you have a college degree, you could apply for a flight attendant position. Although there are airlines that accept applicants who have high school diplomas, a college degree would give you a higher chance of being assigned to international flights. If you're good at training people, you could apply with companies that have international operations. Usually they send their trainers to other countries that they have offices in. Actually, this is a factor you should always consider if you want to go outside of your country. The company you're gonna work for should have offices in other countries. You'll have a higher chance of going there compared to applying with a company with domestic or local operations.

This is a interesting top that get my attention, the first thing come across my mind is the Global support/service analyst in any large corporate company, like IBM,SAP or HP.These industry leading giant outsourced too many jobs in China,India, some of them even set up the development center in these countries,so if you are hired by these firms, you will get much chance to travel around the world to help your customer to facilitate their process and sort out problem for them, because they purchase the software from these company, i have dozes of friend are in this case.

I'm not good with jobs and such, but I think being a flight attendant would do that trick, you would travel many places. Or those tour guides but I don't think you can travel being that...
• Philippines

Thank you! I was thinking of that as well. But I was told that flight attendants are only given short amount of time to roam the city in which they have to stay in a bit. Is that true?

I'm sorry, I don't really know but i think you are right, because flight attendants are supposed to be on the plane not on the ground :P Lol I'll do some research and get back to you on that :)

Travel Brochure? - I've flicked through so many...(this '04?); but travelled so little in my time.
I've never travelled much in my time, but I've thought about doing it, as well as how I might earn some money by so doing, and the job I came up with was travel writer. Although I'm aware that the amount of men and women able to make a good living out of travelling and writing has to be pretty small. But I have thought of doing it. Alternatively, there is foreign journalism. Also; people fluent in English are enormously fortunate in so far as from my research, teachers of English as a foreign language are always in demand.

For a lady I suggest being a children's nanny. I have done that sort of work in Finland and Australia. I know that teaching English as a foreign language would be a fantastic career in all sorts of different countries. I know a lady that taught in Spain and Russia. I know a man that is Australian and he teaches English in China. Working for an airline is a good idea to get low cost flights. It is hard to become a pilot and a lot easier to become a member of the cabin crew.

I think the best way to travel around the world is to be a pilot, flight stewardess, seaman or a travel host for a tv show or lifestyle program. Of course in order for you to have those jobs you should have the skill to be one and confidence.

In my view, the suitable job which could satisfy your desire is to be a tour guide. As a tour guide, the content of your work is to show tourists around the world. Where they travel, you come with them. And as far as I know, to be a tour guide you don't need to have many special skills. So long as you could communicate with others well, you will be an excellent tour guide. With the experience accumulated in the work, I'm sure you will have in-depth understanding of this world.

Well if you want to see the world and is qualified, you cold apply for a job in an airline company as a flight attendant or in a shipping company as a seafarer. Both sexes are accepted if qualified. And you can see the world for free.

The jobs that would allow one to travel would be if you are a flight attendant, a pilot or a captain of a ship or a crew member of the ship. Also, some jobs/positions in politics would also allow you to travel around the world. Also, if you work for an international company of some sort then some get to travel for completing their projects in different branches of the company around the world. I would also love to travel but during vacation time only not for my job as I want to be more settled in one place only. It is difficult to raise a family if you have to constantly move around from one place to the other...

Many travel agents travel to see the places that they are sending their clients too. So I would suggests travel and tourism.
