Placing laptops on one's lap could cause infertility??

I have read in an article that says placing a laptop on one's lap could cause infertility to men. It was said that the body needs to maintain a proper testicular temperature for normal sperm production and that placing the laptop on one's lap could cause sperm damage caused by the heat generated from laptop since it is positioned quite close to the scortum. The term they used for this is scrotal hyperthermia as i could recall.
In another article i have read it says that the cause of the infertility is the wifi's electromagnetic radiation that the laptop emits especially when one is placing the laptop on their lap and using the wifi at the same time. They have also done some experiements on this and so far they have concluded upon the results that it could really cause infertility to men.
What can you say about this?
Do you also belive in this?

My boyfriend never does that. He always makes sure that he has a table or something stable to put his laptop on before using it. Then again, after what happened to a laptop of an acquaintance of ours, always put your laptop on a stable table. This persons laptop was on the side of the couch, and on a place that was thought to be not much of a problem to keep something on, but the laptop was situated in an area were it was too close to the edge and the computer fell and crashed to the ground.
It's as if people just don't know proper laptop etiquette, and by not knowing how to use a laptop properly, you are only hurting yourself and the computer you are using.

It's really not a good idea. Placing your laptop on a table is the better way.

Well i guess putting one's laptop at the side of the couch is really not a good idea. Laptops are quite expensive and that as compact as they are they are quite fragile and sensitive. I have never experienced dropping my laptop before because i am really very careful everytime i use it or bring it around with me. We could appreciate the value of something especially when we used our own hard earned money to buy the item as compared to when it is only given to us.

I have never heard of this before and wonder what "useless" the scientist must have been to focus their attention to this and not the greater picture such as a cure for cancer etc. On a serious note there are warnings for almost everything in this world
Sit at a table and do your online work there and you will be fine I guess. I myself am not convinced and it also depends on your laptop and its internal cooling system but hey they might have a point.

Well, they are scientists and i think thats what they do. Think about things that most people don't think so much about. Sometimes i do put my laptop on my lap especially when i don't feel like sitting in front of the table. And i think i'm quite guilty about this when there is no table around to use especially when i use my laptop while waiting for my flight in the departure area of the airport because there are no tables around to put one's things. Im not quite sure if it is the tempeprature from the laptop itself that would cause ifertility or either the signal of the wifi when we use the internet connection. But as much as possible i would really try to avoid putting my laptop on my lap.

Wow. I cannot believe this. I mean I can see where it would be possible, but it amazes me how these things are researched and released. Never a boring minute when it comes to learning. My laptop gets very heated on the bottom. Of cours, I don't have to worry about any fertility issues. That is way in the past. I will have to pass that on to my daughter as she wants to have another baby,
God willing. She uses a laptop desk tho, and it's never actually in her lap or against her so she's safe, but I'm gonna tell her this just in case and so she can spread the word around to all her friends who are in the baby carrying ages.

Did not know this but I am really not surprised about something like this to say the very least. Given that there are people who sit with something emitting whatever on their lap, there is going to be some kind of ramifications that are going to be rather pressing. Of course, for some people, that might not necessarily be a bad thing.
Of course it would be interesting to see what further comes out from any research with this. I am mostly curious about what is going to happen with this. I’m sure many people are sweating about this one, as they may have done something rather foolish with the laptop constantly right in their laps. Should be intriguing what is going to be seen in the coming years.

I'm actually quite guilty about this because i usually place my laptop on my lap as its name states its for the lap. :) Anyways here's the of the two articles below if you would like to check on it.

A friend of mine (male) went to the doctor a while ago and he got a little scolded for the fact that he kept his laptop on his lap while he was using it. She said that it can cause infertility.
From what i've read almost every electrical device in our homes emits some electromagnetic waves and radiation that can be harmful to human body.
I also read that laptops emit more than other devices so i would suggest a desk when working, browsing, playing.
It's not the heat that does damage but the radiations.
So if you want kids keep a little distance between your laptop and your lower body parts

I believe it is possible. I also know that male or female you can burn your legs if the laptop sits right on your lap too much. It cannot possibly be good.

cyclopz I read this twice and still feel this does make sense
as computers and laptops give out electromagnetic radiation
and heat which could cause infertility in men.I think it
would be smarter to put them on a desk just like my desktop
computer.I do believe this. Men who want a family would be wise'to use laptops on a table or desk.

I would have thought it could be caused by the ongoing temperature but the electromagnetic radiation is rather scarey. The first one seems obvious. The second is weird. If I was worried about it I would check with my doctor.

True or not, it's well worth taking caution. It's bad enough that I don't have girlfriend yet. It would kill me to find out I can't have kids because I put my laptop on.. well.. my lap.
On a completely unrelated remark (you're free to call it sarcasm), people seem to find a lot of things we usually do and call it bad for health. Like you can't put your mobile phones close to your ears for a long time as it causes radiation, and your brain might get affected or something like that. So many things that are actually bad for their specific uses. I won't be surprised if one day there'd be a study that will prove that you can't be using forks too often because the metallic composition mixes with the saliva and residues accumulate and may cause oblivion and Armageddon.
Oh well, for now, I'll keep my laptop off my lap.

I heard the cause is the battery... but lets face it, we are surrounded by electromagnetic waves of many different wavelengths wherever we go. So I don't think laptops make that much of a difference.
I think it is also said that cellphones can cause cancer and it's not healthy to keep them near your heart, kidneys or reproductive organs.
