My niece is just back from the States. It is the second time she travel with his husband. Both chose renting a varient with sufficient space for lugguage. From their story, I learned most time was spent on shopping from outlets, and on sale. Would you travel for shopping?

It depends on my purpose and what country is that. But of course I would rather travel for sight seeing since I am not rich enough to buy so much things. If I would go back to Singapore again and it just so happened I have money probably of course I would want to buy gadgets over there. In Thailand I am going to shop for a cheaper price clothes. But if I am going to USA or Europe of course all I want to do is to sight seeing and visit their amusement parks.

I like a few souvenirs from the place I have visited but I don't spend a lot of time shopping. I am more about the sight seeing than I am for shopping..lol. I have been to places that were more for shoppers than sight seeing though..I was disappointed with that.

If given the opportunity, I definitely would travel for shopping. Living in a small town, I believe there are lots of things to buy when I'm in a bigger city. I love gadgets, so I would probably be found most often in stores that sell and promote new technological equipments and gadgets.

If I have enough money for shopping, maybe I would travel too but not only for shopping of course to see different places as well.

Bing, we should always try to shop while traveling, so can fully benefit from it. We can keep those items as things that we bought from those countries as memories of our tours.

I travel mostly for sightseeing, but tourist agencies lay substantial emphasis on shopping to balance financial benefits. Hence much more have been spent on shopping than the initial tourist fees. It is really hard to object the temptation unless you go out without cash or credit cards. Maybe I'll try to do so some day.

@zhuhuifen46 i think people cannot help but go shopping because there are products that cannot be bought in their own country - or some relatives are asking for souvenir or homecoming gift

Of course I would. It is one of the best option when you are traveling to the place or palces which is much more cheaper than your home place. I use to travel to UK, buy some stuff for me and for my family. Quality of the products is the same but price is much more lower.

Hi zhuhifen46, no matter going on travelling together with my loved one or good friends, I enjoy the most is getting along together happily for sightseeing. Besides taking photos in places with beautiful and unique landscapes, there are great fun and joy for eating the delicious local food and drinks heartily We would like to do a little shopping of course after the sightseeing if there is still time left before going back to the hotel, but we would never travel for shopping solely. Happy posting

Personally, I prefer to travel and enjoy nature, sightseeing, and things like that. When I travel, that's what I prefer to do. I'm not saying that I don't go shopping, while I travel, but it's not the main reason for my travel.

I like to do some some shopping when I am travelling, but sightseeing is always my first priority. Before I visit a new place I look for online information about the place or buy a guidebook about the place and then I pick out the interesting places that I want to visit while I am there. When I arrive at my destination I go sightseeing and when I have seen all of the place that I planned I start shopping. Sometimes I am only able to spend a half a day on shopping, because sightseeing took up most of my time, but I usually manage to buy a few things for my friends and a few things for myself. If I finish sightseeing a some days before I have to leave, I spend more time on shopping and relax for a few days before I go home.

I love to travel for shopping. Most of my clothing I buy in the USA.I am lucky ,since I live in Canada at about one hour from the border.Best is when I can go for a week, since the allowed amount of merchandise is at 700$. per person. So any vacation in the USA is worth for me.

It sounds ind of dumb, but shopping abraod is actually a whole experience. You can find stuff you would normally not get in your home country and it's really fun! Even online wouldn't you find such a variety of merchandise. and it is not only getting the suff up, but the experience itself of digging into the stores and find magical items you fall in love with!

Shopping would be fun if you travel do a different country and can find unique clothes that can't be found in the US. I would def prefer the sightseeing and breathing the air and trying different food. Also meeting the locals would be fun and maybe learning a new word or two. I can't wait to travel!

It's great to shop in the states because things are cheaper there. There are a lot of good deals to be had. My mom loves to shop there because of that. I don't because I don't travel much. If you want cheaper stuff the states is definitely a good place to shop.

Given the chance to travel anywhere, yes i would probably go and shop. First priority is to enjoy the place for sightseeing taking pictures, second would be to taste thier food and thirt would be to bring back something as a remembrance. I would love to bring something quite unique from the places I have been to so that everytime i see them around the house iwould be reminded for the experience in a particular place.

I would travel for sightseeing and not just shopping. If possible on a trip I love to buy a costume doll for my collection of dolls from around the world. I don't like shopping outlets very much. I took my disabled son and daughter to a train museum that was next door to an outlet shopping center. I look in my travel guide book and then see sights suggested in it. I have my own ideas too which I do as well. The top sight in San Francisco is the Golden Gate Bridge. I spent a lot of time looking at that. Also in that city I had a look at China Town and a wander along the coast seeing the sea lions. In Colombia I shopped at the market place.

For me, traveling would more likely be for relaxation, as well as sight seeing. Shopping comes last in terms of preference. For my wife, it could be a bit different :)-

I only travel to sight see, explore, meet people and eat food. hehehe... Shopping is not on my what to do list while traveling. I only enter a mall and shop when it is time to buy souvenirs for my family and friends.

In most of the time, I travel for sight seeing and food especially to a new place. I seldom spend on shopping while travelling unless its really special and wanted. However, there are certain places well known for cheaper goods and sales, I would travel there for shopping too, may be once in a year to buy new clothes and shoes :)

I would not primarily visit a country just to do shopping or have shopping in mind... I visit a place for cultural interest. Yes shopping day out of the 2 weeks, but not all day everyday. I like learning new things and seeing new sites, but thats just me. Everyone has different holidays is what makes the visit unique I supose.
