Any Australian lotters here? I need some suggestion and information about Sydney and Melbourne. I plan to study and work in Australia.. But I'm a bit confuse in choosing whether Sydney or Melbourne. I need some Information about the living cost, job in both city, and is there any way for me to save the cost of living?

Yes, I live in that country. I know less about Sydney & Melbourne than others. Jobs are easy to get in both cities, but the cost of living in those two are the highest anywhere in Oz. If you want the lowest cost of living versus availability of good services, then you should consider Adelaide. In the other cities, if you try to save on the cost of living, they will always find other ways to fleece you. Backpacker Motels & similar places are the way to go if you still want those two cities, but you'll need to be prepared to share your living with others who may not like you.

I actually want to migrate there. wanna have a better live in better place... but I don't have much money to move.. what I can do is just find the cheapest college to study. so I can live, study, and work. I don't even want to go back to my country anymore if I already reach there... ^^ Thank's for the Information...

What you can do is check the websites of the schools in Melbourne or Sydney that you're interested to study in. I believe they have info about in-campus or out-of-campus accommodations for foreign students. These are the ones accredited by the schools so you should be safe to stay with them. Here is the website of their Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations: http://www.deewr.gov.au. Try to browse around and locate the link for the schools in Australia. You may also want to check some Indonesian communities there. Your countrymen are your best source of info about how life is when living in Sydney or Melbourne. You should be able to find one when you do a search in the internet. I wish you success in all your endeavors in Down Under.

Glad to help. Anyway, if you are concerned about high education fees, perhaps you can consider studying in New Zealand instead. I read somewhere online that most costs are cheaper there than in Australia. And if you still need to go to Australia, it will be easier for you already since New Zealand and Australia has a solid partnership. Just do you due diligence so you can make up your mind. I know life will not be easy at the start in a foreign land. By the way, here is a link on one of the responses I made if you plan to take the IELTS exams: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2632575.aspx

If you are open to other cities, then I would like to suggest The Gold Coast where I live. Of course though, I am biased just like my friend veganbliss is towards Adelaide. It is the fastest growing city in Australia and is the largest that is not a state capital. But we are only less than an hours drive south of our State Capital, Brisbane which is also a great city. Brisbane and the Gold Coast are a lot smaller than Sydney and Melbourne, so they are easier to get around, plus as we are further north, we have better weather. The Gold Coast is the tourist capital of Australia so there are always plenty of part time jobs available for students. It is also a lot cheaper to live here than in Sydney or Melbourne and has a lot of international students. They come from all over the world to study here, particularly from Asian countries. You can find out more about studying here on this page: http://www.studyqueensland.qld.edu.au/explore-queensland/studying-on-the-gold-coast/ I grew up in Melbourne so I know it well and have visited Sydney many times over the years, but prefer it here on the Gold Coast much better.
