I think the better question is why doesn't anyone who is in a position of power seem to care anymore. Shouldn't the parents of these children(and that is what they no matter what they dress in). I think that is the scariest thing of all. No one who can correct the behavior or discourage dressing in such a way seems to not be saying a damn word. It is almost like an open information to some unsavory people out there and should something sorrid happen, you really can't say that they weren't asking for it.
That type of attire...nothing wrong with it if you are of age, but sixth grade, that's like eleven, twelve years old. Not even teenagers even. Then again, every time I see the youth of America, I just cringe and I'm not all that far removed from the youth of America to say the very least. Then again, there are children running wild, doing God only knows what, having cell phones. I really had to negotiate and beg to get a computer with an Internet connection that age, and one of my parents had to be in the room when I used it. These days, people just let their children run wild. And sadly sometimes the role models they have aren't much better.

When I turned 16(2 years ago) I got my first cellphone. My parents thought I needed one and all. Then a month later my sister(3 years younger than me) got one. At 13? I was so pissed I didn't talk to my parents for weeks. "Why does she get a cellphone at 13 and I didn't?!" It really bugged me and still does. Now my other sister, who is a 6th grader is asking for an iPhone... "Because all the kids in my class have one!" I think the more parents spoil their kids is what is causing them to act like this. I've noticed spoiled children do this a lot. My cousin for example is spoiled by her rich aunt, and she is acting like those girls in the picture. Maybe not dressing like them but posing in photos and having boyfriends and stuff. I'm scared for her!; she's 14.

I can't imagine why 6th graders will do that. I never would have thought of posing like that, heck I still don't pose like that and I am almost 30. I think part of the problem is media showing that it is okay for that and the sows kids watch now, I watched some and was appauled by them like the secret life of a teenager or something like that. It makes me afraid to have kids.

All these new tv shows are influencing kids in a bad way. They are encouraging teenage pregnancies and everything. Maybe they are trying to show the negativity in a positive way, which is really stupid! I wish all those good shows will come back to television. I'm talking about the family channel, "That's So Raven, "Lizzy Miguire" "Even Stevens" ... There was so many good shows out there but they all stopped because the actors grew up. After the show "Hannah Montana" started I noticed how little girls, in general started to change. The tv shows on Much more music and mtv, shouldn't even be on tv! They should have ratings where kids can't watch them. "Jersey Shore" is the biggest one today. I walk in the malls and see EVERYONE and I do mean everyone(guys and girls), dressed and acting like them on the show. From 12/13 years old to 45/50 years old. It's very scary to see. That is why I hate going to malls now.

some young people are causing some mess, but many are also keeping up with their behaviors at par with the expectations of their elders. the few that mess up are the ones being focused on and getting attention. but the vast majority who are preparing themselves to take over are missing in the news.

I agree with what you are saying, I was actually talking about what you just said with my friends, they don't respect the elders, (i hope that is what you were saying) Children talk back to their parents, grandparents, teachers(etc...) I think it is bad. I am 17 years old, so shouldn't really be talking, but when I was in grade 6, we looked like the 1st picture, btw I have actually seen girls in grade 6 dress like image 2

Which picture, Miijojo?
I checked the photos you uploaded and saw the one of 6th.grade now and then. It's really weird how the media affects those girls posing there... I can't even imagine what they are gonna be like and what will be doing ten or fifteen years later.

I think they are not aware of what they are doing... There are already too many teenage pregnancies, and many girls get pregnant before they are educated about safety. Unfortunately looks like media has more effect than anything, and parents or teachers can say whatever would be a good advice, if the kids don't listen
I'm not sure if those girls act like that because they get too much attention, or because their parents just don't care about what they do...
What is even more dangerous is that they will easily fall victim to pedophiles.

So the 6th graders then look tamed while the 6th graders now look wild! What is causing these girls to act like these? Well ask their parents? Chances are they are not being well taken cared of. Maybe they did not guide and train them how to behave well so that people would respect them and would not call them wild and immoral.
