A lot of people are into health and wellness nowadays. More and more go to the gym, exercise, or even go on a diet. When you go to the supermarket, a lot of products are are also marketing sugar free products, artificial and natural sweeteners are readily available. Although many say that it is not safe. For those who are into wellness, do you use artificial sweeteners in your coffee, desserts, or any food just not to sacrifice its sweetness?

Hello shadjee, I do love eating desserts. They are a piece of heaven for me. And yes it has been a growing concern for many about using artificial sweeteners for diabetic people and also for those people who are preventing to have one. My mother is diabetic but I discourage her to use artificial sweeteners. Aside from it cant compare to the original taste of sugar. I once read about one component in artificial sweetener that is alarming. It is called Aspartame, though it has been approved by the FDA and been used for many years now. But there has been research studies that shows it can cause memory loss, methanol toxicity, depression, anxiety and many more. It cause health scare before. It was called the aspartame controversy. Well I think it is safe to use because it has not been recalled by the FDA. But to be sure I would like to use the natural sugar. And if I am that health conscious then I would just limit my sugarserving.

I don't use artificial sweeteners for my food or any products that say it's a healthy substitute. I preferred natural sweeteners but used it in moderation.

I have used those sugar-free flavors for my water but after reading up a bit on how bad the artificial sweetners are then I very rarely use them for anything. I just try to not eat too many sugary foods. If you are into wellness then I would think you would avoid those things.

No, I won't, and I will never advise diabetics to use artificial sugars. They contain aspartame which is a poisonous substance. I use brown sugar. I also do not like white sugar because they use a certain chemical (quite toxic) to refine and whiten it. The best to use is Muscuvado sugar.

I did earlier and it was disappointing. Cakes with artificial sweeteners taste really weird, but I made them because I didn't want to put on weight. Not only they can be more unhealthy than sugar, but I wanted to eat a lot more of them than of something made with sugar.
Now I would rather use sugar and eat just a little, but that little would taste good at least. Or use healthier alternatives, like brown sugar or dextrose. Although people with diabetes have much less choice.

Hi Shad, i always prefer to use the original sugar to sweetened my drinks and food. Although i ever tried using artificial sweeteners but don't really like the taste. It makes my drink and food don't really taste natural and delicious. Besides that, it is not really good to health to take too much artificial products. So, i think i won't be interested to buy and consume it.

I've never used artificial sweeteners in any of my drinks or food. I don't even buy them. It somehow changes the taste of the food or drink I take. I'm concerned about my health but I believe that sugar in moderation isn't bad. Besides, I prefer the natural kind or near natural than an outright artificially made one :)
