Remember how you were told that Joe McCarthy was a bad, bad man?
Remember how Hollywood screamed that he was evil?
As far back as the 40's, right after the US had liberated Europe from Nazism, the agenda to bring America down had begun.
I know most of you do not care for history. But if we are to know the truth about TODAY, being informed about history is important.
The Venona Papers proved that Soviet Russia's communists had infiltrated American government, Hollywood and our most cherished instituitions.
Why is this important now? Consider the UN vote of Russia and China against Israel recently. Consider that Russia has asked to join with the EU.
Does any of this matter now that the Soviet Union is gone?
Yes, I say it does.
Our country began changing LONG before 2008.
I believe we are seeing the fruits of the Cold War right now. It matters not what label you put on the ones who wish us to go down, socialist, communist, jihadist.
We've been under attack for a long time and the American people never told. And we've bought their lies hook, line and sinker.
It was said by a Soviet leader, we will take over America without firing a shot.
Anyone know who?

Nikita Khrushchev said, "We will bury you without firing a shot." We do seem to be heading in that direction. The funny thing is, we have been shown what a communist or socialist society has done to Europe, and still many in the United States want it.

Technically, mgzg11 is correct in that a kibbutz might be viewed as a communist society. In pure communism, workers are all supposed to be equal and work for the common good. But also in a pure communist society, there is not supposed to be any government or any need for a government. I believe it was supposed to 'wither away.' The communist government that took place was really more of a perversion that was started by and continued by people like Stalin. Once they had seized power, they were more interested in maintaining their power at all costs rather than trying to pracice real communism.
By the way, I am not now and have never been a communist or a socialist although my comments here would probably cause Joe McCarthy to accuse me of being one.

One country out of how many? Sweden is the only socialist country that is not going under, or is it? I'd have to research it. And Israel THE COUNTRY is not communist, a kibbutz is a local community that chooses to own all things in common. A communist COUNTRY must dictate with a REAL big stick to make millions comply. A local community works as a kibbutz does because peopel CAN leave if they don't like it.
Read Aleksandr Isayevich Solzhenitsyn's The Gulag Archipelago and One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich. THAT is what is ahead if we aren't careful.

Sweden has socialist governments for 50 years. What was wrong with them in that period?
Kibbutz in Israel are pure form of communism (without private property, and equal rights of all participants). Is Israel doing bad because of it?

McCarthy was bad. He used to change parties on the way up to side with the majority party to get elected. As a senator, he was once voted as the first or second worst senator in congress, before he started he investigation. He accused a lot of innocent people of being a communist (like Lucille Ball) and wrecked a lot of careers in show business. In general, what do show business types have to do with spying? Plus McCarthy viewed being a homosexual as the same as being a spy because you could be blackmailed.
I am not saying that the communists then and Russians now didn't spy on us. Look at the Russian design for a shuttle and tell me how they developed the plans. The Chinese spy on us. Israel is supposed to be our ally and THEY spy on us. But we also spy on them. We have to worry if our spies are as good as theirs.
However, McCarthy was an opportunist who was more interested in saving his career and staying the spotlight than saving America.

She once signed a certificate to register as a member of the Communist party at the insistence of her grandfather. The FBI later determined that she was never an active member of the party.

Did you know McCarthy didn't even RUN the hearings? He was a scapegoat for the backlash. And where did the backlash come from? From those who, as the Venona Papers document, really WERE Russian spys or sympathizers in OUR OWN Government.
The progressive left has made sure the American People do not know these things.
As for Lucy, and how did this HURT her?

I accidentally posted the comment above in the wrong spot.
McCarthy was the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Government Oversight which had a Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations. McCarthy used his position on the subcommittee to carry out investigations on communists and make all sorts of wild accusations. Many of his accusations he was unable to back up. He was a demagogue masquerading as a patriot.
Lucy did not suffer from the investigation, but how many others did. Many of these people were accused of being communists merely because they gave to charities that they thought were legitimate but which turned out to be communist front organizations. Many of the accused were not even in government.
