Is it true? Some persons grasping power is very low

Grasping power is decreases with aging. I found that it was difficult to teach my mother to use the computer and internet. She asked the same question again and again, while I have to show her again and again. I think practice more could help them to remember and perform better.

some people may have low ability to grasp what is being presented to them. but it may also be due to the clarity of the lessons and instructions from the teachers. patience and efforts are needed for these people. repetition may help, but it will be a bore to others.

surekha: Your idea to teach internet in three days is good. People will ask doubts. You must be able to clarify their doubts at least for the next one week. allow them to practice more in your presence. then your teaching will become very effective.

Yes, there are many times when I have wanted to teach someone something and then wondered why I even bothered trying, as many times it just seemed like it took forever for them to even begin to catch on, and often everything you ever taught them you had to reteach them all the time as well. It can be quite frustrating and annoying and makes you wonder what it will take.

But seriously, I think that the best teachers are those who encourage the student to discover things on their own, some people may be slower than others to understand, I think that this is due to a lack of confidence in themselves, that makes them to ask the same again and again, but, at some point, you will have to let them know and understand the things for themselves, How?, I believe that leave them alone, with certain tasks, so they can achieve some confidence with the computer.

I think it's related to their relativity, to certain extent. Some people are attracted by certain things, and they can remember anything related to those forever. So, instead of blindly trying to memorize, if they practice to relate things with they can remember, their grasping power increases. Some people get easily diverted. They should practice on focusing. Lack of practice also leads to their lack of grasping power. My son was very good at grasping things, but he was not good at examinations. (His teachers complained about his lack of attention.) When I promised him a gift of PS2, he did well in his examinations. So, motivation also plays a role of grasping, in other words, attention.

I do think that some people do have a hard time grasping things, especially things that they've never done before. For that reason, I really think that in order to have a good grasp on the internet it will take more than three days to learn how to use it. For me, I had my first access to the internet when I was in high school, but it wasn't until I was getting ready to start college that I really started to understand how to use the internet and have a firm grasp on it.

The internet is a vast entity. No one can learn the internet n three days. Like I said once before, you maybe able to cover the basics in three days. I would not push it. Things need time to sink in.

My husband and I are teaching my mother-in-law how to use the internet at the moment. It is very difficult for her and we have explain the same things many times. In other situations she doesn't have a low grasping power, but I think it is difficult for her to use the internet, because computers are a totally thing for her. She was 70 when she started using a computer for the first time, so she has to learn everything from the very beginning. She has no experience with computers, and she can't use her experience from the past when she learns how to use the internet. Many small things that my husband and I take for granted she doesn't know so we have to be very patient and repete things many times, but that is okay. Little by little she will learn how to use the internet. I think that patience is the most important thing when a person has low grasping power. Sometimes we have to break the new knowledge into small steps and explain things in more than one way, and sometimes and we have to repete the same things several times before the student understands the new things.

There are slow learners and you have to be patient with them. Sometimes, you have to repeat everything you said many times before they could get what you mean. Some people misinterpret what you say because they understand it differently so it has been a habit of mine to repeat what I say
