Does anybody still rent movies from video stores anymore?

With so much free media online, as well as pay-per-view, order on demand, video and video game exchange programs, and companies such as Netflix, are video stores still needed in society today? I do not think I have rented a movie in the past 5 years. I dont really pay attention to the cost of the new companies on the market, as the convenience is so high. When my child wants to rent a video, I just fire up the computer or my cable box to see what is available. Are there any benefits to video stores today? Do you think that they are going to continue to survive in the market?

We only have one video company around our area any more and it's a wonder they stay in business. Redbox is only a dollar a night. The public library is free. And as a netflix subscriber I don't really even visit redbox anymore and I don't have an exhorbant cable bill either.

Video stores are still visible in the malls but I don' think they sell that much . Selling of pirated CDS are rampant in the country and that you can buy the movies in DVDs at a very low price. Also, many people are now downloading or purchasing them online. We used to have lots of video rental shops before but I don't see one now anymore. Maybe in the future, these video stores will also experience the same exact fate that the video rental shops had undergone. My thoughts..

About half a year ago my husband and I rented a movie from a video store, I think that was the first time in about 4 years. We don't usually rent movies anymore. We are members of movie club and we get our movies from that club or from the library. We don't download movies from the internet, we would like to do that, but we have a really bad internet connection. 15 years ago my brother, my friends and I often rented movies from video stories, but today there are lots of other possibilities, and I think that the video stores are going to disappear one day. There are still some video stores left in my area, but there aren't as many as there were in the past.

A lot of video stores in my country had closed shop already. Those who still operate sort of focused on the selling instead and included in their inventory games. I don't think the movie-renting market would go on unless some company develops an expensive type of movie disc that not all people could buy. So renting would again be the option.

I used to be an avid video renter. I was at blockbuster on a regular basis. Since Netflix and other such sites and services have come along, it has been quite a while since i have rented a movie. Places like Netflix just make it so much easier and convenient. i really don't miss the trips to the video store anymore.

I think they can still survive because wanted movies are not always new ones. Some people still want to see old movies.

blockbuster logo - blockbuster sign..
we have tons of redbox centers here where you can rent a movie for .99 but however we still have a local blockbuster store, and it seems to still be doing really well considering.. i did go in there about a month ago and they had a movie i wanted to buy and i got it pretty cheap.. so i was happy and i noticed they had great speicals on older movies.. and had lowered there prices quite a bit.. there are some people that will always rent from places like blockbuster, i guess they think they are too good to rent from the redbox.. people like that drive me nuts, it is those people that miss out on all the good bargins, like the dollar tree, which i love.. as far as our block buster, yes i think they will be able to survive, and will be in business for a long time.. espically since they lowered there prices to a decent price.. as far as i can tell, they seem to not be affected by all the other ways to get and watch movies.. even red box.. i think too the pople that work there are very nice.. and that helps there business alot too..

Because of the internet downloads that renting habit is fully down now and forgotten too by the city Peoples. But some rural areas they still like to rent them because they have not a good touch with downloads on internet. So it's not end now may be in future it comes to and end.

Not really because Now any movies released on friday gets on internet by sunday and as more people are using internet most like to watch it online as it saves money and time Also like to tell that most new movies are now available on tv channels too in just 1 to 3 weeks so more people watching tv in home prefer to watch it in home

my town doesnt even have a rental store in it anymore that i know off. we have many of the red boxes and i think a blockbuster boxes but that is about it. i think the last time i did was about 5 yrs also that is when all the good and new ideas started coming out. i am not sure they will make it to much longer in the world. i give it another 5 yrs (if that) and that will no longer b an option.

Where i live we lost our last movie rental place about 6 months or more ago. I loved going into the movie rental place just because it gave me something to do. It gave me a reason to look forward to family night. I only get a few movie channels on tv and they always play the same thing over and over again. So i get bored with it quick.

All the ones around here have closed, sadly. It was fun to go and browse, and there was one really neat independent one that had all sorts of rare videos.

I really can't remember when was the last time I actually rented a movie from a video store. It's been such a long time. It's not the sort of thing that I really do anymore. I used to do it a lot more, but it's been a while.

I haven't rented a movie in years. I think with Redbox, there's less reason to go to a store to rent movies anymore. With streaming video from the Internet now, it make it less necessary to get a physical copy of media. I recently bought a ROKU 2 which allows me to stream Internet TV from my wireless router. For a monthly fee, I can get Netflix or HULU Plus to watch movies or TV shows (including old ones) through my Internet connection. Some TV game interfaces like XBOX also allow you to do stream Internet TV just as a ROKU does (and their are other boxes besides that work.)

I would if we had one in town okay. I Hate that technology is putting people out of work everyone expects our leaders to make jobs how is that to happen when technology is taking away everyones duttys. It is ridiculous. One step closer to a communist nation just saying
