high gas prices

The rising gas prices have become a concern for me.These extremely high gas prices will hurt any chance of an economic revovery. High gas prices cause less money being spent. Living in a small community it can really make a dent in the business.
Many small business depend on the locals to spend their money at their places of business. with more of our money being spent on gas, we have less to spend at the local business shops.
Our town is known for tourism. With less people being able to travel. Less tourism. The ability to take a sunday afternoon drive to your favorite destination, has become a discouragement instead of enjoyment. All because of the higher cost of gas. I see the daily struggles of the elderly, every day. What will it take for the prices to come down. The seniors not being able to afford to drive to the senior center for their daily activiy and meal?

Hi earningbigcrumb. It's good to have you at mylott. I'm hating seeing those gas prices going up. I was so happy for a short time when the prices went back down. It was so enjoyable to spend about 15 dollars less when I filled up. It actually turns my stomach. I don't have that much extra money to spend on gas. I have to go to my daughters to babysit and that is about a 20 minute drive each way and then I go to Mom's Thursday thru Sunday and that's about a 40 minute drive. Doesn't sound like much, but when you have retired and drawing social security, it hurts the budget.
And it does definitely affect the local businesses which is definitely a bad thing. I had my own business when the economy took a big fall a couple years ago and gas prices were at a high. It got to where customers' budgets were so small they couldn't even buy a weedkiller to keep landscaping done. It's tough. In every other way it looks like economy is getting better, but like you said, the gas prices are going to destroy those stats.

I will be glad when the government starts listening to the people. Or should I say hearing us. I really think the EPA is over regultaing everything.

Not only that but everything goes up. Bread that used to be 79 cents at this store, I noticed is 97cents. It costs more to deliver so they have to raise the price to make up for it. The best we can do is try to use as little as possible.

I know, all of the food prices are going up. Did you know that it is going to cost more to heat our houses to. Electricity prices are going up. When I saw President Obama state that he wants the gas prices to up to $5.00 a gallon. My mouth dropped.
Opressing the people, thats what I think.

It is getting horrible. My husband has to use the first $80 of his paycheck a week, just in gas to get to work. That does not count anywhere else we might need to go.

Almost all countries are trying hard to cope with the increasing gas prices. And I don't think we can do a lot about this as long as we're dependent on the middle east oil cartel. I only hope that with the present technology, more things would be made that aren't gasoline-dependent.

I agree that prices are increasing. If we would drill here in the U.S. it would bring the prices down. or allow Canada to let the keystone pipeline to come through America, we could have lower prices. I think the dumbest thing our country does, is use food sources for gas.
