Things People Say And What They Actually Mean...

This is a wee bit inspired by the radio show I just listened to this morning. A lot of us say words to people, but we couldn't directly say what we actually mean. Not only to people, but you can also see this mostly on Twitter or Facebook status updates. Most of the times, some people prefer to be cryptic and they would say things which would make people think and wonder, "what's going on?"
I collated some that were discussed this morning on the radio show and browsed through my Facebook and Twitter feeds and these are just some of what I came up with (I added what I think they actually meant):
"What they said" -- What they actually mean
"I feel sick..." -- I'm not coming to work tomorrow! Yey!
"Let's go have a drink!" -- My girlfriend ditched me today! I need a friend!
"I'll be okay..." -- I can't get over you, please come back..."
"Hahahaha..." -- I didn't get it...
"Okaaay..." -- Change topic please!
"When the cat is away, the mouse will play..." -- Mom and Dad are gone! Quick, come!
"My phone's awfully silent today" -- Why hasn't my crush texted me yet?
"Going to a movie... alone!" -- Would anyone want to join me?
"I love you, honey!" -- The girl/boy is mine... Bwahahaha!
"Wow, you are so lucky to have him/her" -- I'm jealous to death!
"Time for a new beginning..." -- I'm quitting my job
"I love my job!" -- Boss is online!
I'm having so much fun so I'm gonna stop right here for now. I think my point is, a lot of people have difficulty saying what they actually mean. I'm guilty of this sometimes too. Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites have been a way to indirectly talk to someone else. Is this something that really helps?

These are really funny. All I know that's not included here is when girls say "whatever", they really mean "go f*ck yourself". That's really something. I mean, girls here seldom speak in english, and I don't even think they know that it means a certain way. It's also a good thing that girls haven't said that to me, well not that often.

I think that you summed up what people really think in a very short amount of time. Great work. Now, can you tell me what my girlfriend is meaning when she says, "I need you to take out the trash." Just kidding. I am happy that you brought this up. My day was down and I came across your post, and had a laugh. I think that it is a way to express without the actual personal exp. It is very impersonal to me. Hope that you have a great day. :) :)

I have two interpretations for that: First, "I'm the boss, and you know it..." Second, "I did eeverything else, you lazy bum! It's your turn!" For your sake, I hope she said it to you directly and not via Facebook or Twitter. Hehehe.
I'm glad to know you find it fun. If you're down and troubled, try me. Maybe I can help (maybe others can too).

The duel meaning of what people really say and what they really mean can rather be amusing. I think that there are a lot of times where you really do have to read between the lines of what people are just going to say and often times, right between the lines of the lines of what they are saying. I have really tried to really just given up on trying to figure out some people right there. There are just times where what people are saying is just something beyond what they are saying, if they makes any sense.
Yet some people have mastered the absolute art of double talk to a rather interesting degree. It is just really just fascinating and really your head is going to spin. And people are so used to using double talk, that they never say absolutely what they really mean. It is a rather politically motivated thing mentally in many ways, where people don't say what they mean. And sometimes it is rather transparent that they really mean something else.

LoL all of this are so funny. I have to agree that yeah these words they put on Twitter or Facebook actually means something else. I am not so fond of updating my status on FB, I usually put on a video/song sometimes when there is something I couldn't say.

People tend to say something and mean something entirely different. We do this because we don't want others to think badly of us, because we don't want to heart their feelings, or because we don't want to seem weak.
Talking with someone else may help you, but solving issues only works if you talk to the right person.

you summed that all up very well. i do not usually post what i actually mean on facebook because the ones closet to me know what i mean and if ne thing they say text me or msg me we can talk. now there are times i am so frustrated that i need to say it out loud but will not name names and i will post it and see who comments me. there are times that i just need to know that there are people that care so i post something to see who will respond to let me know they are there....i know it may sound a little weird but it is only when it is "one of those days" or its been a long/bad day.

Sounds almost 100% right. I could add variations but yours will do just fine. The "I love you, honey!" and "I love my job!" got me laughing. I think I do this sometimes, I'm not sure. I'll probably check my shout-outs and posts history to see. As far as I Know, whenever I share something emotional on Facebook, I say it straight forward, perhaps not directly to the person involve, just how I feel.

I can honestly say i do this alot. But i also say alot of things that i dont really mean to say. Alot of times i dont say what i really mean because im scared to hurt someones feelings or i just really want some one to come out and ask me if everything is ok. I want to now if people really care, or if people really read what i post, or even if people are really lisening to what i say.

I agree with you, lol. People do have a hard time saying what they actually mean. For me, I usually always say LOL even though I'm not even laughing or even smiling or amused for that matter. I only say lol or xD and all those faces to make everything less serious and it make it seem, you know. It's hard to explain but I think most of us know what each other means. -____- isn't annoyed for me, it's just a face that's like "WELL! xD" or something. Hard to explain again xD And wow, I'm using lots of these faces in this post.
