Do you feel comfortable with your situation now?

What do you think of your life now? There is a saying that if you feel very comfortable with your life now, it is time to change. I agree with this idea. If there is nothing challenging or tough for you now, maybe that is because you have little expectation for yourself. I am very busy with my doctoral dissertation these days and I am so tired everyday, but I am satisfied with this feeling. What do you think of this idea? Do you agree with it? share your views.

I don't think I'd agree with this. We could be comfortable in our lives even if we're still pursuing a goal or dream of ours. Comfort for me doesn't mean that my life has stagnated, and that I need to have a change. For me it's being able to do the things you aspire for but without being stressed out about it.

The meaning of comfort depends on how you define it. If you are pursuing a goal or dream, I am sure you have to remember something everyday.

I do not feel comfortable at all with my current situation. randy lost his job late last year (September) and we lost our house in October and had to move to Nevada. We are living with my parents and that has been rough. Randy and I can never talk without somebody listening to our conversations. randy and I had tried looking for work once we came out here, but there was nothing available. Sometime in Decemeber Randy had hurt is foot, but never felt it because he has Neuapathy in his foot (due to diabetes)now he has a foot condition called Charot's Foot. It means he may never walk the same again and if we do not take care of this now he could possibly face surgury or worse amputation. We are trying to do everything we can to avoid these issues. He is unable to work and is wheelchair bound. I am trying to find a work from home job so I can make a good income so we can buy a house and remodel it to make it more handicap friendly. My parents house is not handicap friendly and many times it is hard to get Randy out of the house. He can drive if he feels up to it and since he does not have a cast on his foot he can go swimming. Now we need to look for an indoor pool so he cna get his exercise. His blood sugars are coming down and I am glad of that. He has cut sweets out of his diet and is drinking more water.

Am so sorry to hear about your situation and despite facing some hard times myself I can't think of anything more than the responsibilities that comes with being the sole breadwinner of your household, it is such an overwhelming task that you never come out of difficult times as the savings will be limited, so everything you try to achieve will take you a whole lot more time to. I hope you get a job soon so you could get the home and do whatever you need to make it suitable for Randy. I would also suggest that since you have to get to work for the family now, you shouldn't let him just idle away at home doing nothing, try get him into some online money making activities so he could be able to earn some money that could help in paying small bills. Good luck on getting a job soon and my regards to Randy.

It is ok with me when it comes to life and work. It has always been hectic and I feel pushed in my work as there is always so much for me to do every day. But anyway, I still feel happy to be busy. At least, it means that I am working. To work is pleasant however hard it might be.

As for me, even though I get into "the most comfortable life", I'd still keep on pursuing other goals related to my original goal. For example, it's not enough for a medical doctor to just become a general practitioner. He specializes. Get a fellow, become a diplomate. After that, he'd want to be the best in the field of his specialization...and this ends only if he's already old and tired of his profession. Some humans are insatiable, and pursuing to be the best is their true happiness.

It is very great to have the high expectation for yourself. And if you like the feeling of true happiness, do it.

I can see why you think that way, but for me that's really not the case. I don't like being challenged constantly. It's too tiring and frustrating. I like being comfortable. For me life is not about what we achieve but about being happy. I don't mind not being the first of my class or making the most money, I just want to enjoy life. And as long as my grades are good enough to pass and my job is good enough to provide a normal comfortable life, I'm pleased. That is of course, all work related. I do think that some people (mostly shy people) should get out of their comfort zone more often in order to become truly happy.

Yes, different people have different definitions of the happiness. There is nothing wrong with you to think like that. Best wishes for you. By the way, that is very reasonable that you look at the shy people. They really should get out of their comfort zone.

I totally agree with you that we should change our comfortable life. Because there's no fun in the static life, and we might get bored with our life. So, come back again this is our decision. Are we ready to change our comfortable life or just happy and enjoy with my life right now? It's kinda gambling to change our comfortable life, because it's can getting better or worse..., But I really wonder, how can you have a spare time to make a discussion in this site, hence your doctoral dissertation is waiting you...

Hi, maratus. I am busy with my doctoral dissertation these days. Posting some discussions is just a little rest for me. At the same time, I am preparing the job-hunting, and I am sure it is good for me to have Mylot every day, because the English is very important in the interview.

Best of luck! For you I'm so happy . By the way you write about it , being this busy works for you! Me? I Finally feel comfortable. For a few days I thought I was a failure who didn't deserve to live. Now I think of myself as a happy failure! I don't have a goal or a purpose but my guy loves me and I love him. So I'm happy.

I'm starting to be happy because I feel that I'm starting to get the life I've always wanted.Since I've graduated last 2009,the road has been full of bumps with my relationships going bad to landing unfulfilling jobs but trying to stay only to know that within a few weeks I'll get terminated.I've been struggling with this for 2yrs & I'm glad that the past is finally ending & now a happy future is waiting for me.

I can identify with what you are saying, and feel it myself. We need challenges in life. As a Zen practitioner, my challenge is to be detached. This is a bigger challenge than many think though in a world where competition is cherished. I have detached from many things in life, but my conditioning and early programming by society still leaves me with a degree of ambition. As a therapist I see many people with many different situations that they are wrestlin with. It is when they learn acceptance that they can feel more comfortable. Accepting the way things are leads to detachment. When you experience a glimpse of this, it is like getting a piece of paradise, but the old conditioning soon returns and the achieving mind takes over again. We are all growing and as the years go by, noticing how aspirations evolve and change is fasinating. Zen is not for everybody, but it can be applied to every walk of life. Expectations? Yes I have had many of them, but transcending them is something else. _Derek

I'm pretty happy with my situation. Sure, it's not perfect, and there are things that could be going better, but it could also be a lot worse. I do like a lot of the things that I have and have achieved so far. Overall, I am pretty happy.

I may say I am 50% satisfied with my life right now. The other 50% is I hope I can get satisfaction with my job because lately our office doesn't have any projects for us to do, so I am left at home boringly, I want some money to spend, I hope this year everything will improve and I can return work in the office rather than sitting at home.

Student years are some of the most difficult, it's very hard to find enough hours in a day to get everything done. Even if you are not a student the early 20s and 30s are very stressful years. I remember this time as just work and more work in order to get everything done that needed to be done. I had small children, worked a job, went to school at night and still had a husband who need attention. All in all I really didn't have time to consider a better life, I just put my head down and each day did what needed to be done, then got up early and did it all again the next day. However things changed as I grew older and I am sure they will for you also.

i am comfortable right now with my situation... but i know it can be better and as many of us thinks, of course we know things can be better, life can offer us more things to do, and it can bring us what we did not even think we could have.

Do I feel comfortable with my life now..um..nope because I'm not at the point in my life that I wish to be, so I can't honestly say that I'm comfortable with my situation yet, I think I will be comfortable someday if I keep working towards my goals it's just been really difficult that's all but oh well that's life I guess just gotta keep believing and perseverance and things should come together eventually.

I think there are good and bad things in my life now and I feel that it is part of living. I don´t think that there´s anyone who can have it all or that has nothing ahead of him, even in our deathbed.

Good day Xiaobing, With reference to your main topic, honestly I am not too comfortable with the life that I am having now. As I am always looking for something which I cannot identify what that really is. All I know, there is something missing inside of me. That although I am getting myself to be exhausted everyday in doing my task and doing my online jobs to earn, still, at the end of the day, I am thinking, why am I like this. Why I still feel the loneliness. Why I am still feeling empty. And what is that something that I am really looking. Despite of what I am feeling, I am trying to be happy everyday. And trying to enjoy my life since our life is just short to spoil it.
