Do you have a special plan to celebrate women's day - March 8 every year

Hi friends, Most of us are aware March 8 every year is marked as international women’s day but again most of us would say all 365 (366 this year) days are our day – especially women’s day. The office I work for every year do appreciate the female staff and so our celebration just got over as we have a holiday on March 8 on account of Holi - festival of colors. My question to all my lot females – do you think we should celebrate this day just for the sake of being woman? Have you ever been part of such celebrations? To others –are you aware of this day? Do you gift/wish your woman on this day? Thanks for sharing. Viju

Hi viju I am much aware of Women's Day. I dont gift anything on Women's Day because I dont believe in that concept. I know, women in many countries and cultures have lead an oppressed and confined life. Anyways this is not that place to discuss on this issue. I DO agree and believe that Women are a Blessed Species. They have so many powers that make them Respect worthy and also lovable. But I see no reason or no point in telling them that They are Special. They are - tell them or not - doesnt matter. Again, I also dont see any reason to be Proud of Being a Woman. Man or Woman, we all are what we are and I take it as simply as that. But hey, Not gifting doesnt mean that I dont wish them. I wish you and all the women folk a Great Woman's Day and also - Enjoy your life, what you are

@chhotu, Like you I too do not see any point why one should feel proud for being woman. If this is the case then women feel in the inner races of their mind inferior to men for men never feel proud or announce to be proud to be a Man. Man is man and woman is woman. Both are part and parcel for each other for carrying forward the generation. Thus there is no point flowering woman on a day and battering on the rest of the days.

Ideas for celebrating International Women’s Day Throughout the world, thousands of people, young and old, celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD). It’s the day women celebrate what they have achieved and speak up about what needs to change. Some ideas for celebrating International Women’s Day might include: Workshops / exhibitions in the arts; Morning tea / brunch / lunch / dinner with an inspirational woman speaker; Nominations and awards for women; A women’s festival; Poster designing; Showcase of Indigenous women’s talents; A tribute to female role models; Evening events that whole families can attend; Mother and daughter events for bringing together women from different communities and ethnic backgrounds; Women performers presenting original work; Public lectures / forums on current women’s issues; Eminent women speakers to address your local community or group; Spend time with other women for the day eg. picnic, sports day; Plant a tree to commemorate; Storytelling evening; and Involve local groups / community in your activities.

Hi, Well in most of the parts of the country people are not aware of this day but certain people in all country do have the knowledge. In my country too, most people are not aware nor do they find it a reason to celebrate being woman or man. However we, as woman, feels good when someone wishes us with care and a small gift make it more wonderful. The company I work for did organize a small party for the female members – taking it as opportunity to acknowledge our contribution towards the society. There was a session on women’s health issues, interactive question answers, some fun activities and high-tea. In corporate sector this trend is getting popular… have a nice time.

Hi viju, Let us celebrate International Women's Day on 8 as a formality because we have been used to formality more than practicality. We celebrate with more showmanship than with our heart. As you have mentioned women are there with us round thr year and why a particular day to their name. This is to remind them that we care them or care for them. And this is a way of exploiting them further. The urban or semi urban women that too a little percentage know this day but what about the majority of the women that live in the village? Are they aware that 8th March is a Women's Day? All nonsense.

Hi, Many are not aware of this day and yes these days it is formalities to be completed. Only a certain category is aware or celebrate such occasions but given a chance to appreciate or show affection on one particular day should be appreciated. Thanks for your nice input. Happy lotting.

I have never heard of women's day. I always thought that Mother's Day is for celebrating Mothers and women. I am not a mother to any two legged children, but I am to three cats. Randy takes me out to dinner for Mother's Day, but I think this year we might take my mother out for Mother's Day since we live in the same house and same state. Thank you for teaching me something new.

Actually, this is my first time hearing about women's day. I believe in our country, there's nothing like that. or maybe I am just not aware of it! Well, anyways we don't celebrate such and for being a woman, it is more likely to have mother's day for being a mother is more meaningful to be celebrated.

Hi, Yeah.. there is not a big celebration all around and we really don’t need a particular day to celebrate. Wishes itself are enough for us to be happy but these days it is also becoming popular. Mother’s day is the second Sunday of May – its not so far, so be ready to celebrate! Take care & happy lotting.

HI Viju! I am aware of it but we don't celebrate it. To have a special day specially for us, I am proud to know about it but I don't think we need it. Generally there will be some organisations which will celebrate this day but I am not sure many know about it. Anyway, happy women's day to all females mylotters!(^^)

Right, we don’t need a special day to celebrate womanhood. Yes many are not aware but certainly these days so many ‘days’ get commercialized. Right? Have a nice time.

Although tomorrow is the Women's Day, but it doesn't mean that we will have a day off. So it is just another ordinary day for us. I think most employees are the same here. But it is a good opportunity for the business. Everything will be sold well in the festivals. I love China

Hi Viju, I know I am late, in fact, this year March 8 was on Holi and I forgot about the day which is meant for women too (I knew March 8th is the International Women’s Day but the same day Holi also falls and I could see the colours of Holi only everywhere). Anyway belated wishes to you on account of ‘Women’s day’ and ‘Holi’. Women should be respected and taken care of well in all days. A women’s day can’t change the mentality of those people who disrespect women or insulting women. I don’t think that ‘this day can highlight value of women’ among the weird people. At the same time those who respect women never need a special day for them. We have so many days, women’s day, mother’s day, father’s day, children’s day etc… I felt something sense for celebrating children’s day. In children’s day kids are getting special freedom in school, getting gifts, can watch movie in school, in fact no studies on that day, even they can avoid school uniform too.. By sharing their experience on this day, I felt, they are really enjoying on ‘their own’ day. Oh dear, nobody wished me a women’s day.

Hi sree, No problems.. better late than never and let me wish u a belated holi / women's day and also a VERY 'Happy VISHU' well in advance... This year it clubbed with holi and for a change, i got many sms as women's day wishes...it's definitely a feel good thing when someone remember to wish us on a holi/holiday. U r right dear, we have people with different outlook towards women and those who respect and care would never hurt them too. Oh yes.. chidlren's day is one such which is truly enjoyable by them. Take care and have a nice time.

I´m aware of this celebration and I don´t like it at all. I think it is yet another kind of discrimination. How can it be that we, women, have one women´s day while the rest of the year most of us are illtreated? Fortunatly this has never been my case and because of that I think that all year around it should be HUMANKIND DAY and all year around we should treat each other with respect, no matter what genre, culture, religion or race.

I do not beleive in greeting a woman just on the woman's day. The respect for woman should be there at heart always. Personally i fel that just by wishing on one day means pretence. Respect and love for woman should always be there as it is because of the woman called mother that we all are existing here. So gift her whenever you wish to and not only on the woman's day. Happy mylotting.

hello viju, This day "International Women's Day" is enough to celebrate. This world acknowledgement how "Special Women" are -is the best way to appreciate a woman. No special celebration for me- wanna greet my mom she's not here with me, but I will give her my greetings and love as I always do everyday. Have a good day

I did not know there is a woman's day. I think this should be reclassified as young woman's day or old woman's day . There should be more specific days like working woman's days. There should be more days like the abused or tortured woman's days to high light different problems of women.

hi, 8 March every year is celebrated as international woman's day. This is also known as working woman's day as well. I don't think so any sbused / tortured woman would want to celebrate a day of sad/sorrows....thanks for your thoughts.
