Sibling Sacrifices

As the eldest of three girls in our family, I always wish the best for my younger sisters. I've always been a firm believer that a professional piercing technician is the only person who should ever make holes in your body for cosmetic reasons, so when my sister decided she wanted her ears pierced at 14, I offered to pay for my piercer to do them for her. Mate's rates meant it was a well priced present. We went in, she sat down, he went through the process, we signed the forms and he drew the dots. Then the needle came out and she broke down and started crying, she couldn't go through with it. I decided to see if it would make her feel better if she saw that I could do it without flinching with a smile on my face, so I sat there - had both my lobes pierced for the second time (I couldn't do just one, it had to be two... OCD, particularly with symmetry on my body!) and did it with a grin on my face. Nope, still wouldn't go through with it. She had it done a year and a half later in a jewellers... Tell me, what sacrifices have you ever made for your siblings? Any funny or cringe-worthy stories?

Year 2009 was when I got a job and until now I'm working with the same company. I remember when I got an incentive from work, I intentionally forgot the idea and bought something for my brother instead of having a dog I'd been planning to buy for so long. The feeling that my brother really needed it and the appreciation I got from him made me feel complete.

That's it - that feeling you get from their happiness is more than enough. I remember not too long ago, my youngest sister spilled half a tub of parmesan to the floor, something that would have highly annoyed my mother. I took the blame and felt good about it as I no longer live at home and a scolding goes like water off a duck's back these days.

My elder sister lost her job in 2005. I was also just starting to work that time and have no extra money to spare but because I was so eager to help her to get back to her feet. I loan money to give her a desktop PC. She was an architect by profession and having a desktop can help her. I have to sacrifice that time because, I cannot afford to see her so sad and frustrated. I have to sacrifice 30% of my monthly income to pay for the monthly amortization of the loan. The sacrifice was worth it because she was doing well now.
