2nd Amendment wins again, this time in Maryland.

A federal judge in Maryland struck down a ridiculous law that refused to allow law-abiding citizens to have a gun permit unless they provided “good and substantial reason”. This law was used to ration guns and the plaintiff was suing because he had gotten a gun permit after a home invasion, but was later refused when he tried to renew his permit because after some years they arbitrarily decided that it was no longer a good and substantial reason. The judge put it best here. “A citizen may not be required to offer a `good and substantial reason’ why he should be permitted to exercise his rights,” Legg wrote. “The right’s existence is all the reason he needs.” http://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2012/03/05/md-gun-law-found-unconstitutional/

I read that earlier. I'm glad to see it in a way, but it's a pity that things like this even have to go to court. The laws of the land have already been written. Those who challenge them (in this case, whoever decided that having a permit needed a "good and substantial reason" other than being a US citizen of legal age) should bear the brunt of proof - not those who are affected by it.

I was very pleased when I read this article on Fox News. Way to go for freedom in the good old USA.

Always good when the US Constitution wins in court.

I heard that yesterday and it felt good to know that there are still men of common sense and decency on the bench that love our Constitution. There will be an intense attack on our second amendment rights if Obama wins a second term. This might help defend us.
