How do you feel when a lizard falls on your body

India

Here in South India we have almanac which gives a detailed information on what happens when a lizard falls on a particular part of the body. Whatever happening can be good or bad that depends entirely on which part of the body the lizard has fallen. I do not believe in this. How about you all? Does any other country follow something like this. Please share.

We have some superstitious beliefs here in my country as well. But this is the first time I have heard about lizards. I find it a bit weird, but did you know that some people believes that lizards can cure asthma. That is I think weirder.

Lizards falling is a very common thing here and i never knew that it cures asthma. Could you write in detail on how does a lizard help in curing asthma as there are many in my family who suffer from this problem. Thanks for your response.

Hello bewitched, In South India lizard is considered as a supporter of honestly (lol) if we talk anything then it follows a lizard’s voice which means the person is telling a truth. I heard that if a lizard fall on your head then that person may die soon. I don’t know what will happen if it falls in other parts of the body, I have not heard about that still. I felt it is a superstition and nobody is going to die if a lizard falls on head. There may be some poison and if it falls in food it may affect (that also I am not sure).

Its terrible. In India there is a superstitious belief that looking at which direction the lizard runs there is good or bad omen likely to happen. It is called Gawli Sastra.gwali means lizard.

Yes i have heard about gawli sastra. Probably in the past when a person was trying to justify his reasoning a lizard would have made sound by chance which was later used to justify alongwith the directions in which the lizard looked. The almanac which states the effect of lizard falling on the body also says about the effects in which direction the lizard falls. Thanks for sharing and happy mylotting.

well, i don't really believe in such kind. here in our country we don't any belief in something like that and even if there is, i wouldn't pay much attention to it. I believe whatever happens to a person good or bad does not have anything to do with it such as when a lizard falls on a certain part of a body but that a superstitious belief common to your place and country..each people and country have different ways and beliefs on things.

Your belief is good that anything happening to a person need not be related to something. But olden people used to believe this as they used to relate things with nature. That is why such an almanac was prepared. Thanks for your kind response and happy mylotting.

We don't have this superstitious belief here in our country and a lizard falling on someone is very very uncommon. If it were to happen to me, my reaction would be to get the lizard off myself and take a bath. I wouldn't worry about the superstitions...

Good that you do not have such superstitions in your country but a lizard can fall anywhere when it loses its grip and slips landing on a human. It is good to wash the area where it falls to maintain good hygiene. Thanks for your response and happy mylotting.

I am not superstitious at all but could you perhaps tell me what it means in your place when a flying lizards falls on your upper right leg, somewhere near the right side of the lower part of the stomach. I am just curious to know because this happened to me last Sunday on a beach resort. Back where my parents grew, in a province on the northern island of our country, people there are very superstitious. It's like every thing has an omen and something just has to be or not to be done. One example of a superstitious belief in our country is rotating your plate when somebody is living your house while you are still eating. It is said to drive away bad luck or accident for the person leaving the house.

I remember reading as good fortune and luck when a lizard falls on stomach or leg. I do not know how far it is true. Do write to me if you chance to get lucky. You have shared a new superstition which i never knew. Thanks for you response and happy mylotting.

I guess what you are referring to is kinda like superstition. I don't believe in superstitions. I believe in one supreme, loving God who has complete control of all things. I believe all things, good or bad, happen for a reason. Of course, here in the U.S., where I live, having lizards fall on you is not a common occurrence. And if one did fall on me, well, it wouldn't really mean anything to me. Except that maybe I should keep an eye out for falling lizards next time.

This is not exactly superstition as this happens only when the lizard loses its grip. Unfortunately it falls on a human body and people relate things to it. In olden days people used to relate incidents to the nature and its things and so such almanacs were written. I do not know how far it is true. Thanks for your kind response and happy mylotting.

Nah, I haven't really heard anything bad when a lizard falls on you- but we do avoid this big lizard called "tuko" in our place since it sticks so hard on your skin..Having a lizard fall on you is scary experience. A lizard fell on my head once, it was so little and I didn't feel it fall, but then i felt the faint beating of it's heart and when I touched my head..waah..it was thee- quite a shock.

We do not have such beliefs in our country. But in any case, it a lizard is to drop on my body, then first reaction is to sweep it away and next is to bath myself.

I have not read about such yet. In my country I have not heard about its meaning when a lizard fell on certain parts of the body. We would just feel a little shocked since the lizards body is cold. Could you tell us what are those that you read?
