This is really funny... you are able to play PS1 games on the PS3 but not PS2 games. I bet this is because at the beguinnings of the PS3 there were same titels for PS2 and PS3 with a price difference and they wanted to ensure that PS3 customers buy the PS3 versiĆ³n instead of the cheaper PS2 game

That is one reason, but also cause now some PS2 games becomes into an HD Collection with trophies added to it for the PS3.

It depends on what model of the PS3 you have. Seeing that none of the PS3 models currently in production have backwards compatibility with PS2 software, you might have to go to garage sales or places where gaming consoles come to rest (God forbid that, lol).

Above is an AdFly link to a Tech-FAQ guide for more information. Good luck.

It depends on the model of the PS3. As far as I know, all models of PS3 can play PS1 games. However, only the early PS3 models can play PS2 games. 20-60GB, I believe can play PS2 games, then there are a select few 80GB models that can play PS2 games.

I sometimes wish I had a ps3. I was thinking of getting ones if it does play Blue Ray movies as well. Cannot see just getting sometihing for games. But it would be easy to play movies on it rather then having to go and turn on my Tv or get a new Tv for the front room. Now if it did play 3d games and one could watch 3d movies, that would be great.

You have to upgrade your ps3 to have backwards compatability. I think some repair shops offer it but you can also do it on your own. there are tutorials in youtube already.
