Is Australia provide any Blackberry service?

I just curious how is the Blackberry service in Australia? Cause many of my friends in Australia never use Blackberry, make me so difficult to contact them. And I ever heard that Blackberry service in Australia is so expensive, so that most of Australian don't use is. Is that true? I ever check it in internet, many of the telecommunication company there didn't provide any information about Blackberry service.

My understanding of a Blackberry is that it is just a phone that can be used with any service provider so cost should not come into it. They are more cumbersome to use than other Android or Apple phones though so that is why they are not as popular. I rented a blackberry in the USA. Never again! It was a horrible phone!
