Is wife a good friend?

Hi PurnaSharma, In my opinion seeing a good friend in your wife is a very good thing. The initial physical attraction eventually vanishes, and the only things that remain are trust, respect and deep love. So, sharing things with the person that hopefully will be next to you for the rest of your life should be the right thing to do, I think. And the past should remain in the past. Important in a relationship are the present and the future:).

it's different when you share everything to your wife because she's your wife and because she's your friend.. when you share everything to your wife because she's your wife, some of the things you share may result to differences in your relationship.. unlike when you share everything to your wife because she's also your friend, whatever you shared to her, she'll accept it and nothing will change..

I think your wife can be your best friend but it depends on both of you how open you are and how willing you are to share. I think it's just a cheap excuse to say it's not common in the Indian culture. It's not about what culture is but how you see your marriage. What relationship you want to have with your wife/partner. A relationship is something you both have to invest in. You have to share things and if you can share your problems, worries etc together it will only make your relationship stronger. This besides of the fact that what you share with your wife is private and in your own house. There is no reason to share that with the outside world or Indian community as well.
