I eat lots of vegetables and meat like poultry, rabbit and fish, some fruit and avoid bakery products, cereals, sweets and anything that contains white sugar or other sweeteners. The advice about eating things with lots of fiber is very good. Though, my experience tells me that limiting meat is a bad move as far as excessive appetite is concerned. I tried that approach a few times and I actually gained weight as I was unable to sustain such eating habits for more than a month before I started chasing anything edible that I saw. Now that most of my diet consists of vegetables and meat, my appetite got normal and I eat very little compared to what I used to, my muscles grow nicely after workouts and I lose weight (lose fat, gain muscle mass and still the weight goes down nicely and steadily). My eating habits have been stable for months and I have much more energy the entire day.
Lean meat like poultry will never make you fat. It is the skin, lots of oil and other high calorie stuff that people often add when preparing their meat or stuff they use as a side dish. In other words, lots of fiber and protein = good for healthy and sustainable weight loss, lots of carbs and fat = very very bad.

I forgot to say that drinking fruit juices too often and eating too much fruit is a bad idea too. Too high on calories and the body tends to store the excess sugar as fat.
By the way, when I was purely on vegetables and fruit a few years ago, my appetite got only much more excessive. In the end (before I gave up and started eating other stuff again), I spend all day pumping vegetables into my stomach and felt hungry all day long.

There are all sorts of approaches to this problem and you'll have to experiment to find which one works best for you. However, at the base of every approach is good, old fashioned self discipline. I know it isn't easy, believe me, I know. Self discipline isn't taught or practiced much any more, but it will do a lot of good things for us.

yes I agree with that, Self discipline is hard to maintain especially when it comes to eating. :(

the best way which i recommend because it's what i've done is a change in your lifestyle. you know you have a problem. being able to determine the problem makes you see the obvious ways to resolve it. the problem is you always think you cant. you cant win against temptation, you cant win against yourself. but if you make the decision and stand for it, you'd make it.
but do not aim to lose weight... if you reach it, you'll run out of goal. aim to change your life style. aim to eat healthier, to work out in a regular basis and to feel good about yourself. ^_^
good luck!

dennisalbiso I don't think there is a best way that fits everyone. You need to find what works for you, keeping in mind it is a balance between how many calories you take in verses how many you burn off.
For me high protein eating helps me lose ..for others it can be something else. Experiment, read the various methods and adapt something that you can follow, that's healthy for you and fits your lifestyle. All the best
And welcome to myLot

Everyone has a different approach. I eat a lot of wheat bread which has protein, vitamin d, fiber, iron, and whole grains. It's better to make the food yourself because the takes out all the possible problems with preservatives and things like that.
If you're trying to lose weight, it's pretty broad on the approach to take. It depends on your weight goals and your dedication to it.
I don't try to fight my appetite a lot. I eat fruits and veggies but I also eat muffins and burgers. If you try to completely stop eating "bad" foods, you might not be able to handle it and you might eventually break. When you break your good streak, you might end up eating more bad foods than usual which would be even more unhealthy. It's kinda like you're holding you breath...you know? Same thing goes for when you're hungry, you'll probably overeat later.
I just try to eat with moderation.

yeah, that is what I have been doing lately just holding out not to eat and depriving myself of a good meal and sometimes skipping meals and in the end it backfire which leads me to eating more than the usual

I think if some1 want to lose weight doing exercise and having healthy foods. Excessive appetite? When you are going out stay away from place where they sell snacks and any other foods. Go to beach n playing volley ball, swimming, till you tired.

I guess it is just a case of control first as to eating the right foods, I have heard water is a good thing, drinking a lot of it during the day, and always drinking a glass before a meal, I guess exercise but better food is really the key I think.

Eat only fruits and vegetables. Eat lots of fiber and lessen the amount of meat and poultry on your meal. Drink lots of water and don't forget to exercise even just by walking for 30 daily. I guess that sums it all. Do not worry if your appetite grows when you are in the middle of this diet because you'll only eat plant type of food. You get your protein and calcium from the green leafy vegetables so don't worry much about it.
This is the best advice I can give you. Tell you what, I used to be around 62 kilos before but now I'm in 55 and going down while I eat more and I didn't even wish to lose weight--just have a balance diet to support my weakening immune system. In short this kind of diet is "Eat more, Lose more"
Hope this helps. Happy MyLotting!
