How do you make potty training effective? My toddler is 1 year 4 months old. I started potty training her when she was 8 months old, but even today there are times when she wont say 'poo' and just messes herdelf up, though I have taken her off diapers during the day. What am I doing wrong?

From my experience (I have 3 kids) they will completely train when they are ready. For each child it is at different times. When your daughter is truly ready she will tell you poo. She will not do it one second before she is really ready. I find when they start feeling the sensation and they can talk very well they will tell you when their ready. I pushed my first daughter too hard and I realized no matter how much I wanted her to be trained she would not do it until she was ready. I also realized I was being silly for pushing her so hard. They all eventually will potty train whether its 1 year old or 3 years old it will happen...For 2 of my children 3 yrs old was the magic age. They turned three and decided they were ready.
For all kids different rewards work too. For my first daughter a sticker for every time she went worked.
For my son it was tons of praise and a piece of candy.
For my youngest nothing worked, lol. Until I told her she was going to be a baby forever she didn't want to train. I told her that and she decided she wanted to be a "big" girl.
It all definitely depends on the child and how stubborn they are...
