My friend came to me and she wants her hair to be treated since It was dry and damage. She has this cellophane treatment that I will apply to her hair. So I read the instruction on how to apply and for how many minutes will it takes. It said leave at least 30 mins. When were done and wait for the time for her shampoo I read again the label and examine the bottle. Until I saw in the bottom that the date was already expired. I told her that, I apply an expired chemical into her hair, she said it was from her sister that she shared for her what is left from the bottle. But she didn't knew that It was already expired. So I told her to rinse her hair fast, I don't know what the effects of using expired treatment. She was too worried about her hair, she was afraid of some side effect. I also don't know what to do since she only ask me to apply it for her.
Do you know of some side effect of using expired treatment? What will happen to her hair?

Hi,well i know your going to hate this tip and i don't blame you for it hahaha...But i have tried Aveda and just a lot of other products that are poplar and that but nothing worked that good well the weird suggestion is what i do is try to not wash your hair as long as you can the natural oils kind of just treat your hair..i'm not talking about 1 whole week not washing your hair hahah that's too crazy..but it does help my hair but from shampoos my favorite is Aussie Shampoo and Loreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil its very good;)

I was told before that some hair products can still be used even if it is expired already. but of course it depends on how long it has been expired. As far as I can remember, you can still use it up to like six months from expiry date. But of course those are just hearsay. I cant even remember who exactly told me that or where she got that idea. But i am glad you read the expiry date because we will never know what will happen to her hair.

I was just wondering why we Filipinos have to go far, our ancestors have used coconut oil to their hairs for a long time with much effectivity and now virgin coconut oil is already available, really we do not have to go far especially when it comes to dangerous chemical stuffs

I think an expired product would not have effects on her anymore. It simply just would not do the treatment action. So if her hair is dry and damaged, it will remain dry and damaged. Next time be careful with the chemicals that you use cause whether the product is expired or not, you do not know what it's gonna do to your body. Leave the hair treatment to the hair expert. :)

The only thing that I can think of is that the treatment won't be as effective as it would have been had it still be in date.

Too much treatments and exposures to these solutions could endanger our system as like other chemicals have side effects to our fragile body. She needs to have some nutritional food intakes so that her immune system could be restored and her hair needs help by applying some virgin coconut oil to help restore the luster of her hair
so that it could make her scalp prevent the occurrence of scaly and itchy dandruff.
This dandruff is a major contributor to make your scalp itchy and dry so applying this virgin coconut oil helps it prevent and it could make your hair manageable to comb and it helps make your hair becomes more healthy and it adds more black pigments to make your hair more beautiful.

I imagine it will not be effective or do what it promises. A cellophane treatment just sits on the outside of the hair. It kind of seals it up. I am in agreement with WakeUpKitty that there are natural based treatments that will help her hair, as well as using a gentle shampoo and reducing the styling with heat. She can put olive oil or mayonaise on her hair, then wrap it in a hot steamy towel and put a shower cap over it and leave it for thirty minutes, and that will help.

One of the possible side effects of using expired hair treatments is a possible allergy. My mother had such a reaction where her scalp would be red and blistered and this would last for weeks. I do hope that your friend doesn't have such a reaction.

i guess it depends on how long it was expired for, if it was not long it should not hurt her, i doubt it would really hurt her anyhow so i would not worry,
i usualy keep hair treatments for years and my daughter will come get them and use them and she dont even look on the date.. if its there and free she uses it.,,
so it prob will be ok..

Hi,lynboobsy11~
I hope you are not feeling very guilty about it.First thing to do,in my view, would be to consult a doctor who specializes in this kind of area.We can't undone what has been done,so the only remedy would be trying to minimize the damage that has been done to your sister's hair. And doctors would know how better than we do.
Hope she would be alright.

hi there,
i am glad you found the expiry date right away and had her rinse her hair immediately. i think it is going to damage her hair and she has to make sure her hair was thoroughly cleansed. she has to observe any untoward signs and symptoms and if something occurs, she has to seek for a doctors help. this is something very important especially that is in her head and the chemical is considered toxic since it is already expired.
i hope all is well. be safe.

I hope that your friend is in good health as of this moment after using an expired shampoo. It is important to be aware of expired shampoo because most shampoo we use today are chemically based which may cause damage to the skin cells which may lead to health problems. If it's an organic shampoo, there would be no worry because there are no chemicals added. That is the reason why I prefer using organic shampoo like the ganozhi shampoo without chemicals added. Are you using one of these organic shampoo?
