It's been a long time that I want to learn playing guitar. However, as I'm unable to pay for the guitar learning lesson, I learn it by myself. Currently I'm starting with C major scale first position and second position and is able to play fluently. The thing is that after that I don't know what are the steps to take so that I could reach the level of playing songs just like the others. What are your advises or any books to recommend for acoustic guitar starter just like me? Or is there any efficient website with chord position provided in picture and video for songs to play?

I am happy to know that you are interested in playing the guitar. I can just imagine how excited you are when you started strumming those strings. I can't paint the picture of excitement in your face. Just like you many years ago, I had the desire to learn. My suggestion is for you to meet or see someone who's good in guitar playing. Watch and observe closely how he put his chord fingers on the bar and how he transfer them from one string to another. Ask some questions or some help. This is I think the best and easiest way to learn fast how to play the guitar with fluency. I hope and pray for your success in this endeavor. Hope to hear one day that you're playing it so good that I can hold my breath in awe of your skillful strumming.

Thanks for your opinion. Yes, I got your point; it's sometime really easier for us to learn by asking people around so that anything we're not good in and wish to improve or things/parts that we don't understand can be solved in short time. Compare with scratching our head around and find no answer, this is really a good way. And thanks for your blessing, I'll keep on improving myself. Cheers! :)

First off you need to train in playing chords.. gain speed with those in shifting from one to another.. then go to fingerpicking in some slow songs.. you have californication from red hot chilippepers and some musics from john lennon. hope it helps :)

Thanks for you suggestion. Some websites did provide some information but it did not suit me as I'm not really understand; one of my way is to learn from Youtube. However some did tell the position of the frets and string to play but some did not. What I can do is listen to the sound and check with my position. As I had already brought a guitar learning book which quite suit me; I can improve a lot more.

In my 24 yrs of experience. I pretty much tried a lot of ways to learn efficiently, and for me, the best is learning to play as many songs as I can. It's so much easier to research if you have specific questions. There will be a lot of questions from the songs that you will learn to play in the future.
