Getting to know God

Hearing how God called Abraham friend, I thought it would be wonderful if God could call me friend. So I thought, how could I become God's friend. So I began researching God. Looking up all the names he has been called. Having such a burning desire in my heart to be God's friend, and to have God as my own friend. We all know, you can be a friend to someone, but how do they become your friend. This is a relationship my heart desires.
Having trouble remembering his names. I asked God, How can I remember all these names you are called. So he birthed a study plan within me. I started to do this word art. Using the Hebrew names of God. I look up the scripture, use keywords from the meaning and a bible verse that is used to describe God's name.
I create and save the pictures and use it for a slideshow when my computor is paused. I also share them on facebook, twitpic. I started a blog and saved them on a pdf file. So I surround myself with the names of God, so that I can begin to understand who GOD really is. That may sound funny, "Understand who God is". But how can you truely be a friend to someone if you don't understand them, of know them.

Yes my dear your latter point is very pertinent,how can you know someone if you don't understand and know of them.
But I would also like to add that knowing GOD isn't just knowing his name, it's also about knowing his word which is the BIBLE,knowing about his son JESUS CHRIST, it's about talking to him through prayer.
There's a song we use to sing "when we pray we talk to GOD".
To know GOD we must have a relationship with him,just like we may have relationships with our earthly friends. You're definitely on the right track and I think it's wonderful that you've seeked to find and keep the names of GOD close to you,but also remember that part of the relationship entails knowing him and about him through prayer and the reading of his holy word, every single day :) GOD loves you so much and I can tell you love him too, and trust me he does consider you his friend :). Good point! When I had my Sunday Service last night it was awesome and that is exactly the point. You must Know God but, Believe God and Receive him in your heart. To know someone is simply getting close to them by talking with them, spending time with them. It is very important to read God's Word and spend time with him in prayer, If you talk with him and pray it is such an awesome feeling because you know he is there with you. It is the peace that passes all understanding. He is so good to us and I pray others know that he does care for us and consider us his friend. Be Blessed always.

That is why God wants a personalrelationship with us. He made us to long for him. We are romantic beings by nature. Look how the Bible begins and ends. With a marriage. The bridegroom is coming. Love these discussions. Thanks
