Before I always put tags on my response but now I see it can be skipped. What is the advantage of using tags?

Yes it is okay if you skip tags for your discussion. Tag is like a keyword for the topic. But I think it would be a good practice to put tags on the topic you responded. Happy mylotting!

Tagging is a way of guiding the discussion and the topics and getting more people involved in the discussion. Sometimes people do not respond directly to the main subject you are discussing, but they may respond to related and collateral topics. Tagging enables you to bring attention to related and collateral topics.

Nah, you won't be banned just because you don't tag :p.
Tagging allows for a way to categorize and search discussions and messages in myLot for easy navigation. (taken from myLot FAQ :p) While honestly, I don't really got that advantage while searching (there are lots of improper tags, and such)

It is nothing to worry if skipped any topic. Te advantage is just you can choose any related topic to comment easy from mylot. It is make the stuff ie comfortable and in order of set follow by the discussion about.

I feel like the advantage of using tags is to make your discussion searchable to a larger amount of people. I think of it like Youtube the more tags you have the more it is likely to find the video. If your discussion is in TV with no tags it can only be found in TV. If you add the tags Friends,Ross and Rachel,Jennifer Aniston. You might get someone that loves Jennifer Aniston and see the tag and they will see your discussion. I use tags sometimes but because I just started I was thinking about using them more.
