Choosing the best response?

The normal here on mylot is your either posting a comment or starting a conversation. When your posting a conversation and receiving the responses how do you choose a best response? Do you wait for a bit to choose a best response or pick it a couple of hours later? Do you choose someone because you like their other posts? Do you choose someone new to give them encouragement to keep posting? How do you choose a mylot best response?

When making a discussion, I make sure that I will choose the best response. I just actually learned it recently my friend. I didn't care before about it. For your second question, I wait for the days to pass because it might be that there will still mylotters who will respond to my discussion. I still have to observe their answers. I choose the best response by those who are deserving. I randomly choose them.

Yes everyone of us who will choose the best response has our own criteria in choosing. It would be great enough to really read those. Not that read through the text but reading in a way that the one started the discussion will easily say, "This is yet the best response so far".

Everyone seems to take a very different approach to choosing a best response poster. It's been great to read the answers and very helpful.

I usually wait until most people have replied to my discussion and I pick up the most helpful or one that seems to give me the best answer.

That would definitely be the best time to select the best response.

I agree it seems to be the consensus with people waiting until the responses die down and making a choice.

I choose the person who gives me the most information concerning the post. Or, it may the person who gives the most information on the opposite view. Learning is a beautiful thing and you only learn when there is an opposing viewpoint and you are willing to listen. Hugs, Maggie

Good Point but sometimes more is less?

Giving the most information doesn't mean giving the longest answer. Some folks can talk and talk without saying anything, while others can say a lot in very little space.

For me, it depend on topic itself If discussion had similar answer, I choose the most logic and complete information. This will take a while, a couple week maybe, to give BR If discussion had various answer, I only choose the correct one. This easier, only take one or two days to give BR. Happy mylotting

I can understand that, I usually try to wait a week just so others aren't discouraged to reply to the post because a best response has been choosen. Its nice to be recognized for answering a post with a best response.

hmm. its good to be back here on mylot. this my first reponse of the week. Pertaining to your discussion. I would say it depends on the person who heartily make an effort to response with appropriate words that can inspire or motivate other mylotters who read every comments before they allow themselves to engage conversation. Or the type of topic/discussion that could easily attract others to response. Someone who really understand your situation and give you some advice that you can execute or can change you life as a person.

I have no system for choosing best response, I just pick the one that helped me the most or that I liked the most, I guess.

That's a good question. As the discussions don't seem to expire you can get an answer weeks, month or even years later so I think you jus have to wait for maybe a few days and then you can mark it as the best.... or not. Personally I've not used that feature yet.

I just started using it myself. I have waited at least a week or once the responses that are posted slow down then I try and choose. Not easy though sometimes.

hi glitzglitter I chose the one response that seems the most helpful in response to my discussion. I do not just pick out a friend or a new person, instead its the one in my own eyes that best responds to my discussion. I wait a week as mylot admins has suggested in the guidelines.I do not like your suggestions as those are sort of playing favors. best response ,means the best of all the responses that is all it means and it pays nothing so is a n ice lovely pat on the back instead.I go for the response not the poster, its not a popularity contest its just a nice well done on ones back and that is all.

I agree with you, I have been waiting 5-7 days, once the responses are allot slower coming in then I choose a best response. I often have to reread the responses to choose again so it gives me a chance to absorb the suggestions made in the responses.

I usually wait until the discussion becomes inactive before choosing. Sometimes I just know when I read back through them but other times I really struggle with the best response. I do always award it, I just may take a little more time if it is a tough choice.

Choosing the best response sometime give a very challenge stuff for me. Normallt i will choose depends who gave a satisfying answer, a good method of solution, good approach, and some other reasons. It is doesn't mean that others answer is not good but all answers perhaps nearly only. It is being fun to read the answer and finally choose a best responses to our discussion.

I agree I have read through other postings and tried to figure out the method people use and often find more than one that's a good response. Maybe mylot needs to have a couple runner up response buttons.

I don't play favorites as I don't have any favorites, you are all so new to me yet that I cannot have a fave anyways, LOL. I do choose the best response with the most info or what I can laugh at or something to that nature. I choose different people as much as possible also.

Never thought of that as an option someone who made me laugh. Are we allowed to post humour on mylot don't know if I remember reading anything about that in the guidelines?
