how many years do you have to wear your braces?

When we were during our teenage years, most of us probably wore braces to straighten our crooked teeth! I even see some older people still wearing them! Did you also suffered wearing braces? Or are you planning to get them?

really? maybe you did not follow properly your ortho's instructions. after wearing braces, you need to wear retainers for quite some time, depending on what your ortho will tell you. it is to make sure that your teeth will be stable and will not move again to be crooked.

Well I still need to get braces because my mom is still trying to find an insurance company to pay for the braces since they're expensive. If she can't after a long while of trying, she'll agree to pay for them. Our insurance company won't pay for the braces since they claim that my teeth weren't bad enough. When I went to the dentist to check up on my teeth, they said I had to have them for around 1 and a half years. I hope I get them soon. My teeth are pretty yellow and ugly =/

i hope your mom finds an insurance company to pay for you braces! or at least find enough money to pay for them. try to find a dentist who will offer you a cheaper price. i understand the feeling of having ugly teeth! they lower your self confidence. but braces wont help you with the yellow-ish color of your teeth though.

Thankfully, I did not need to use braces. I remember wearing a retainer but without any dental purpose at all. I just saw my friends are wearing retainers and decided to just have one made and worn it.

I am 30 years old and I am planning to get braces on. But 5 years ago, my dentist told me that I only have to wear my braces for only 6 months to 1 year and my teeth will be fixed! And now, she told me that I have to wear it for 3 years coz my bones are getting tougher, unlike 5 years ago...

you better decide to get them on now since the more you delay them, the longer you need to wear them (based on what you said). you don't want to wear braces for 3 years plus you have to wear retainers after that.
