What is the proper attire for pregnant women?

During my days, pregnant ladies wear jumper suit on top of a shirt, a pants designed for pregnant ladies with long blouses or a long, big dress.
Yesterday, I watched a noontime show, actually it's "Eat Bulaga" where one of the host is Pia Guanio. She announced her pregnancy on the same show and there is no problem with it since she is newly wed and she was a good host. But I've seen her twice this week wearing a short (it is rather very short for her condition), and the material seems to be silk, not thick cloth. Actually, I don't know how to describe it. I don't think it is nice and proper. How about you friends, do you think it is still proper or I am just too old fashioned?

Well fashion has changed from you time. Silk is much softer then cloth is and it stretches easier and in early pregnancy there is no need to wear clothes that is bagging and makes you look fat. A pregnant women can look as if they are not pregnant if they want to. I wear jeans through out my whole pregnant last year with my daughter and nice tops and t-shirts. If you got to a mother hood store you will see all kind of clothes these day. I wouldn't want to wear clothes that doesn't look good on me because someone didn't think it was right from a 23 year old to wear. I'm pregnant now with my second child and I'm wearing the same clothes as I did with my daughter. Although I'm not huge yet so I don't need my pregnancy clothes. I wear what is still in my clothes till I out grow it. When pregnant its about the bump not what in the pump and not what seem unmotherly. I would wear short shorts if I like wearing them. Till I out grow all of my pre baby clothes I'm going to wear what I have. When I out grow them then I'll wear my mommy clothes and most of it I'll have to buy again because I don't have short sleeves since I had a winter baby and my early pregnancy with my daughter was in the summer before I got big. This time its the other way around.

I guess, I am just too old fashioned. I wore jeans too during my pregnancy with the cotton part on my tummy. It would be nice to experiment on what we wear during pregnancy, to try something different or something that people not used in seeing us wear it. But comfort would always the first thing to think of when shopping for any kind of clothing. But for people like me, who are not fashionable... it would be always the usual, a big dress or a pants with blouse...

There is nothing wrong with what you wore but women that are from my generation and younger want a different look. We don't just want to feel comfy we want to look good especially if they are working in an office.
When I was pregnant with my daughter a year ago I didn't know what I should wear till I want to a maturity store. I knew I didn't want to be like my sister in law and wear my husbands clothes all day. I wanted to still look and feel like a 22 year old so I just waited till all my normal clothes didn't fit me any more and then bought me some mommy I'm pregnant clothes that fit my style. Still wearing the stuff for this pregnancy. I hate dresses, but they always have something for all types of moms out there. I like a little bit younger and fresher look but that is because I'm 23 and not a grandma maw as I see it.

I would probably agree with you if I had seen it myself.. I think woman that are pregnant should where cotton maternity blouse and maternity pants. I've seen women with T-Shirts with half there stomach showing and if you ask me I think its ugly.
I think a pregnant woman can still look attractive with proper attire.

Oh yes, I've seen those too. They are not even bothered on how they look, right? These are confident ladies who doesn't mind what people might think on them. Personally, I do care of how people would think on my looks. I would even asked my husband if my clothes are right, proper and nice and if I don't have the approval, I wouldn't care of giving it away. On the first place, I would want to look good for my family and they would not be embarrassed of me.

If Pia Guanio's belly is still small then I don't see anything wrong with wearing shorts. If the belly has already gotten big, then that is when she should choose for clothes properly. I've never been pregnant but I can imagine myself that when I get pregnant and my belly got big, I would wear beautiful dresses, decent dresses of course.

how people perceive proper manners and traits of other people can be subjective. dresses, outfits, or clothing can represent the character but not the totality of a persona.
as to her wearing a 'silk' short, i think it is much better for her condition as it will not put pressure on her tummy than wearing maong or tight fitting dresses. i worry for her though seeing her don high heeled shoes. when she trips over, it could affect the baby.

Her doctor gave her the approval for wearing of high heeled shoes. She just need to be careful to make sure that the baby will not be having a birth defect or something. I remember during my pregnancy, though I am not wearing a high heeled and I am even on my flat shoes, I almost fall down upon stepping on a banana peel. Thanks God that there is no problem with both of us.
I am not sure if it is really a silk. If it is, considering the weather here in the Philippines, I don't think that it would be comfortable.

I think as long as it's not overly provacative, it's generally fine. I love maternity clothes - Gap and Target have some incredibly fashionable ones! Sometimes I want to buy these for myself, even though I am not pregnant, just because they are SO cute! . But I would say dressing 'appropriate' is subjective to who you are talking to. Generally I would say as long as it doesn't look like she's going out to a club.... It's fine. HappY MyLotting!

When I was bigger, I would always dropped by the maternity section after disappointments with clothes that looks good but is too small for me. I am always tempted to buy those kinds of clothes, in fact, I have a few pieces that would actually be used as maternity clothes for smaller pregnant ladies. I love the colors, the flower prints and the materials used.
Definitely, appropriate and comfort really counts in buying and wearing clothes.

I like the new styles and designs for maternity clothes lately. They look chic unlike in the past when pregnant women used to look dowdy in those voluminous clothes. A woman can look sexy and pretty in the latest styles of pregnant attire where some are mini skirts or even shorts. Pia Guanio is well known for her daring clothes. We have been used to seeing her in shorts during the daily noontime show. I wonder how she will look in the old kinds of maternity dresses. i still prefer Pia Guanio to be in style while pregnant. It is her personality and she might start a new trend. We just have to get used to Pia starting to grow a big tummy in short dresses and very high heels.

I guess, I am really too old fashioned. Anyway, I am not against of stylish maternity clothes, I even think shorter dresses looks cute to pregnant ladies. I guess I just feel awkward to see pregnant ladies wearing shorts. And for the high heels, from the start of her pregnancy, she already asked her doctor if it is alright and I guess the doctor gave her a thumbs up sign for those. Maybe she just need to be careful.

Well, I think regardless if you are pregnant or not, it still depends on the way you carry clothes. we are used to wearing dresses or long blouses and even leggings but now fashion has changed even to pregnant women. she might just want to feel sexy despite the bulk in her. Probably her shorts has these special garters tailored for pregnant women then I guess its fine.

I think it is completely a matter of what the pregnant woman feels comfortable wearing. When I was pregnant I liked to look cute. I wouldnt want to wear anything to short or to revealing as I dont think during pregnancy it is a time to dress sexy. I've never heard of the eat bulaga show so I'm not sure who the host is.

I think comfort is the most important thing in a pregnant woman's attire. It doesn't matter if it's skimpy or bearing a lot of skin so long as those outfits don't restrict blood circulation and such. Besides, it takes a few months more before a woman's pregnancy becomes very apparent. But if you're referring to the ethical appropriateness of a pregnant woman's outfit, I guess, that's something really debatable. Sexy outfits are frowned upon by some sector of our society but are not really an issue to others. Personally, if we don't mind women wearing these sexy attire, then I don't see any difference if pregnant women wear them too. Well, just my opinion :)

I am 26 weeks pregnant now and i wear the same clothes i wore before i got pregnant. fashion has changed. and more fashion deisgners are making it so pregnant ladies can look good while pregnant. just because we are pregnant doesnt mean we have to cover it up. its what some mothers wear after they have a kid that is not good. they think because they have a smaller belly now that they can wear tighter clothes and lower cut shirts.

Yes, I could really imagine that you are for comfort rather than style. I would really love your style, because during my days, I wear big pants with a cotton material on the tummy part. And considering the weather here, I guess that's the best for pregnant ladies, a comfortable leggings.
