Bad Day?

This morning, I woke up with a headache. I'm not prone to feeling like this, so it was a little annoying, but I went to work anyway because I knew it would probably go away...and I don't think a typical headache is a reason to miss work. I don't normally take any drugs when I don't feel well because I don't like putting that stuff into my system unless I absolutely have to. I probably just needed a little more sleep or something. So, here I am at work still waiting out this headache... I thought my morning started off not so good until my coworker told me the events that transpired before I even got to work. She was in a hurry and probably running late when her carpool arrived. Once she got to work, she realized her shoes and socks weren't even close to matching the outfit she was wearing! She had to wait to do anything about it until our coworker (and friend of hers) got in the office since she carpooled and didn't have a car. A run to the store was in order! She bought new shoes and socks to go with her outfit, and then they came back to work. Since she was in a hurry once again, the socks she bought were a little too thin for the style of shoe, so the heels slip off her feet when she walks. At least her outfit matches now lol. My first thought after she told me that was that my day really didn't start off so bad after all! Things could be much worse. If I were her and my morning had started off like that, I honestly don't know if I would've bothered going to the store. I might've just given up on trying to match and tried to have a good day regardless. (It would've made for a great story, and it certainly did in my coworker's case!) I hate when days start off badly, but I think a person's attitude can make all the difference. My coworkers and I had a good laugh this morning! Have you had any particularly bad days? What do you do to cope?

I hope you are feeling better by now. I too woke up with a bad headache. I took my meds, a decongestant and I'm waiting for it to kick in! As for not matching, I never have that problem. My shoes are black walking shoes and I wear white socks! I think it is rather silly to go out and bu matching shoes , but then again I never was a girly girl. Cope with a bad day? No, I just live through it. I chalk it up to me being punished for some reason.

Thanks, Sarah. My headache is going away slowly but surely. I think it's probably due to slight stress from not getting enough sleep last night and needing to go back to the chiropractor for an adjustment. I should go get my hair done and a massage after work this afternoon "just because"! I don't need a reason, but that'd surely make me feel better. I'm sorry you had a headache when you got up. I don't get them very often, so I hurt for people who have to deal with them on a regular basis. My hubby used to get the worse migraines all the time, and I have no idea how he dealt with it. I hope your medicine is helping you to feel better now. It's the worst being all stuffed up. I have slight allergies, but usually don't have to take anything for it. It's a lot less trouble wearing black and always matching. I have a friend who wears all black because she loves it, (not because she's Gothic or anything lol). That's just her character, and her skin is black, so why not? She always looks nice too. The fewer clothes and shoes a person has, the less they have to match things up! It also takes less time to pick out what to wear. I'm with you. If my shoes didn't match my outfit, I wouldn't really care. I figure if I made the mistake that morning, I should have to deal with it all day. Plus, I wouldn't want to spend the extra money because I definitely don't need more shoes. I think my coworker had on brown shoes with a black outfit. That's not too bad. It probably would bother me if I had on two different shoes, though! Well, it's almost noon here now, thank goodness. Not that I'm rushing the day, but I'm looking forward to getting home and relaxing with the hubby for the evening. The evening can drag by! It's the best part of my day, and weekends, of course. Thanks for your response!!

My headache is sinus based.Once my meds get into the bloodstream , my headache is gone! I have no idea how anyone can survive a migraine!I wear only t-shirts and jeans. So getting dressed is so easy. If I had to do the Sunday Best thing, I would have blue, black and grey. I hope you and Hubby are enjoying the evening.

Thanks, Sarah. The hubby and me ended up having a great day. My day was not so bad after I got to visit all my friends here. It was encouraging to say the least! I did start feeling better around lunchtime. It wasn't that I needed to eat, but relaxing was key. Since the day was pretty quiet at work, that gave me the breather I needed. I'm glad your headache went away too! That would make me feel so much better to know if I have a headache I can take something that'll guarantee it goes away within a little while. With me, not so because a headache could come from any number of things. I actually described my coworker's outfit wrong, I found out - she was wearing two different shoes when she got to work the other day! That would probably bother me a bit more, but I still don't think I'd go to the store over it. I'd either have my hubby bring me one of the shoes or a completely different pair, or I'd just suck it up and live with my mistake for the day! If my pants were long enough and the shoes about the same height heel, I don't think it'd be too bad.

I hope that your day gets better. It's very hard to have a good day when it's already started out bad. I hope that your headache goes away as well. Yeah it sounds like your co worker has had a crazy morning all ready. I too would have just given up on making my outfit match. When I have a bad day I try to do something that will make it better and help it to go smoother. I notice that with my work that I'm doing I've got to get my percentage up in order to get better assignments and ones that require a shorter period of time to finish. So I'm working on that and once I get my percentage up hopefully this week or next then I can say that I'm having a good month.

Dominique, thank you for your kindness. My headache is slowly going away. As I comment here, it is on its way out so that's good. It's also been a pretty quiet and non-eventful day here at work, so that helps! You're right - it's that much more challenging to have a good day after it started off not so good. Just curious - where do you work? I hope you're able to get your percentages up soon so that you can get the assignments you want. That's really important to set those goals. I'm sure you will have no trouble reaching them! I sell Mary Kay and Miche, and I have my full-time job, so I always have the pressure of meeting sales goals in addition to meeting deadlines at work. This month, Miche has some really great products that came out, so my sales in March alone caused me to well exceed my goal, and this has been my best month yet since I started selling Miche in December (20110. My team leader had a great incentive going on for this month for whoever sells at least $300 in product, and I met that goal as of yesterday, only halfway through March! I'm pretty excited about that. I appreciate your response. I'm feeling a lot better now than I did when I posted this discussion, and I got to laugh with (at - lol!) my coworker, so it's going to be a good day after all. Thanks again for your encouragement! Please do let me know how your percentage goes. I want to celebrate with you when you reach your goal!

I tried selling Mary Kay before but most of the people I know thought it was too expensive. What is Miche? I have never heard of it. I'm always looking for ways to earn more. I was writing small blog post and my percentage went down so now I have to work hard to get it back up there.

Hi, I'm so sorry I didn't see this post until now. Shame on me! Mary Kay is expensive, but their products always last me a long time, so the price makes it worth it. Miche makes purses of all shapes and sizes. The beauty of it is that you don't have to change purses to change your look! The products are really popular, and I've had a blast working with them! Check out my website - it's listed on my myLot profile page.

Yeah...some days don't start out good. This Sunday, my older son had an early morning music class. Despite me being up early and ready, the day didn't start off too well. My older son couldn't sleep well that night and I let him sleep. In the meantime, I got the younger one ready. By the time older son was up and ready, younger son throws a tantrum. We are getting late for class. Managed to rush and catch an auto (a mini cab).Argued with the driver over the fare. Got to class and the manager has an argument with me over son's classes. And all through this, the little one is still grumpy and being difficult...thankfully, not very loudly.I had an errand to run before I went back home ....the music class would be for 2.5 hours...so I figured, I would go back home instead of waiting for him at class. After running the errand, I had turned around and passed the music class when his drums master calls up asking if he could meet me at school. I told him I would be back 2 hours later and he said he would have left by then!I was almost home then. So, I dropped the grumpy one at my mom's place and returned to the class just to talk to the master! And ended up waiting more than an hour in the sun for the keyboard class to get done. Needless to say, I had a headache at the end of the day.

Sorry...missed the second part of the discussion. On my bad days, I do not have the time to stop and think and therefore, hardly any time for coping mechanism. If it's a slightly bad day and I realize I am getting irritated by the minute, I take a few minutes to myself to take a few deep breaths.Sometimes, I also have to explain to the people around me that I am having a bad day and staying away from me would be a good option for them :-P

Wow, what a day! I bet you were ready to fall into bed when all was said and done. I can't imagine having to do all of that running around and coordinating things every day. I don't have kids yet, but I can imagine I might be doing my share of that someday! You're a good mother, though, always making sure your children are where they need to be and taken care of. Good for you! I think it's probably a good thing when we don't have time to stop and reflect on our bad days. I like to stay away from the negative. I'm glad you try to make it clear to others to stay away when you're having a bad day! I wished some people I work with would do the same lol. It's tough finding out the hard way! For me, I try to be at least somewhat pleasant even when I'm in a bad mood. It's hard, though! I had a horrible headache (migraine?) on Easter afternoon a couple weeks ago, and my hubby and I were at my in-laws. I was in so much pain that we needed to leave so I could go home to rest. (It was an hour drive.) I felt so bad having to leave early, but I knew I'd feel worse if I didn't get home. I feared my condition would be a lot worse if I didn't take something and rest, and I wouldn't be able to go to work the next day. Thankfully, it worked out ok, and I felt better once I got home, took something for the pain, and rested. My mother-in-law told my hubby later that she had no idea how bad I felt. I'm glad it was nothing more than a really bad headache because it was the worst one I'd ever had. I didn't let my condition ruin my day either. Easter was still really nice! Thanks for your response!

I had one such bad day last week. I woke up late, and since I had to prepare lunches for the kids, I got to work 20minutes late. I was already kicking myself for being late, and all the problems we had for production that morning, when I got reprimanded by my boss for being late! This really ticked me off because I always stay late, and I even come to work on the weekends! Anyway, that was Friday. I didn't try to cope with it. I just left at the end of the day and did not say goodbye to anybody (small shop). I instead focused on the weekend.

I'm sorry to hear about your bad day a few weeks ago. Hopefully things are looking up now. I'd be a little upset, too, if I were reprimanded for being late. I'm not late very often. I work through my lunch every day and stay late on a regular basis. I know how you must feel! I don't work weekends, thankfully. I'm glad you didn't try to cope, but went home when the day was done and enjoyed your weekend instead! I think what you did is a great way of taking the edge off a bad day, by focusing on something good - in this case, your weekend. Great idea!

Eh, I think every morning could hold something to put you off. Mine certainly does. Attitude does matter. And in a lot of ways, I think we may have subconciously taught ourselves to look past such stuff, as a coping mechanism. I guess it has to be something quite unusual to put us off. But even though, do we really stop to think about it for long? Something much more important does come along, for better or for worse, lol.

You make a very good point! Nothing is going to go perfectly our way no matter what. These bumps in the road are just a fact of life. My headache was bad enough on that particular day that I couldn't look past it, but with other things I most certainly do ignore the negative. You're right - attitude matters more than we think! By the way, my headache went away the same day. I don't know what it was from, but I'm certainly glad I don't get them often. When I do, it's more of a reminder to go back to the chiropractor lol.

I think I would have worn the mismatched shoes and socks and told people I was starting a new trend! By the way, how is your headache? I have migraines frequently, and I've got to work with them a couple of times. I always had to keep a trash can handy.

Yes, mismatching is the new trend lol! I love that. My headache is much better - thanks for asking! I'm sorry you get migraines a lot. My mom gets those all the time, too, having to lie down and keep the trash by her. I've always felt bad for her. Headaches aren't too common for me, so I don't cope well with them! I can't imagine having to work with those circumstances all the time. You poor thing!

there must be an epidemic with headaches! i hope yours goes away soon. i've had my headache for almost a month straight now. it don't matter what i take or do. it doesn't go away and stay away. what to do to cope??? keep living....unfortunately the world doesn't stop for headaches. would be nice though! bad days.....i try not to let them get to me. there are times when i'm in a bad mood, i stay there all day. (especially if i'm not at work). if i have to be at work, we just pray that the day gets better and concentrate on other things. i leave it all in my car and let it stay there till my day is done. i'm with you....i've never been a silly girl. if my stuff don't match....oh well!! don't look at me, be thankful you're not me! is what i say. i couldn't/wouldn't justify shopping for shoes to match one outfit.

I think you're right! I've never heard so much about headaches as I do nowadays...and I never had them before, but now I do. Maybe it's due to stress? Who knows. I'm normally not a stressed out person, and I handle pressure pretty well. However, I think the headaches have gotten the best of me too. I'm so sorry yours lasts weeks and months at a time! Maybe if I had the ache for that long I'd get used to it and ignore it? That would still be awful. I sure hope you've found a way to cope! I find that going to the chiropractor helps. When everything is in balance, I feel much better. I'm glad you don't let bad days get to you. I try not to either. I just ignore the negatives and move on. I like your idea of leaving the bad things in the car when on the way to work. That mentality would really help me. You know how they always say to leave your issues "at the door" before going into work...well, I think that's very smart. There's too much drama when people's personal issues are brought to work with them.

Sorry about your bad day. It seems quite common these days. Well, for me when my eyes open in the morning, I know for sure it's already a bad day for me. My problem for me, is where I live the neighbors won't get along with me. They act like I'm not allowed out of my house here. It's crazy. They just don't like me because for one I don't own my home here, they don't like renters. The other reason is because my family is poor, and since we moved in here, they have done nothing but harrassed me. I'm trying to find a job, just so I can move. I'm out of work now,so it makes it hard. I had too many bad days here, too many to count. I tried making friends with them ,but they're so irrational where they can't talk normal to me. For the past week, I've had a head ache due to stress.I have a link to a song I like to listen to. Music helps to change my mood some. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6SLkEOSmeY&feature=share

Music definitely does help! Thanks for sending me some - I love that song! I hope things start looking up at home for you. That's tough when you're not accepted at the place you live. I sure hope you find a job so you can move somewhere better. Please keep me posted because I want to share in your success when you get to go where you want! I'm sorry that it's already a bad day when you open your eyes. I have days like that, but most of them are pretty good. Thanks for your response!

Safety, thank you for your kind words this morning. That is just what I needed! My headache is slowly starting to go away. I'm eating some breakfast as I work, so I think that is helping. I wish I could go back to bed, but I know that's not possible. The day must go on! Thanks for being completely honest about your day. Wow, I can't believe how much you had to deal with today! How old is your son? That would be hard having to get up with him multiple times in the night. You're a wonderful mom, though! I didn't fall asleep until 1:30 or 2:00 a.m. this morning, so I only got maybe five hours of sleep. Once I fell asleep, though, I didn't wake up until my alarm went off. I don't know how I'd manage with having to get up in the night. My husband and I don't have kids yet, though, so I'm sure those days are coming! I'm glad you don't have to work and that you had time to rest while your kids were at school. There is nothing better than a nice, warm bath to relax, is there? Just the thought of it makes me feel better! To be honest with you, there is one time when I don't hesitate to take something for my pain, and that's the pain you described! I can't deal with cramps without pain killer! However, if one time per month is the only time I'm taking pills, I think that's probably alright. I like music for relaxation. That's a really great idea. I had some of my favorite music on in the car on my way to work. I kept the volume down low as not to disturb my headache. I've never heard of Richard Claiderman before, but I'm going to look him up since you say his music is soothing. Perhaps I will recognize some of his music too. I wish I could listen to music here at work, but my computer doesn't have a CD drive, and I have to answer the phone anyway. That is one thing I don't like about working because I used to listen to a lot of audio books during the day too. Oh well...at least I'm starting to feel better. Thank you for your well wishes and encouragement. It sounds like it's afternoon or evening where you live, so I wish you a wonderful rest of your day, a full night's rest, and a great morning tomorrow!
