REminds me of what's in the Bible about lot's wife...she turned to look and turned into a pillar of salt! It seems like people do this....if you say don't look now they turn and look.....it's like the don't is erased! I probably would be tempted to look...don't know for sure if I would or not.

I Like the analgy! It would depend on who was telling me to not look. If it was Lot, or an angel, or a friend that I knew was a friend of God. Probably not. I would hold steadfast. Now, if it was a 12 year old, or a prankster. Yeah I probably would want to know what the joke was.

You know, if someone told me not to look behind me, right away, my curiosity would be rather grabbed almost right away. It is just like when someone tells you not to look down when you are up on a high place. You know that you really shouldn't look down. But you do look down. And then you know why you shouldn't look down. But you do. It happens. The best way to get a lot of people do something is to tell them not to do it.
That is where reverse psychology tends to really go in. But humans rather tend to have a rather natural ability to be curious and thus that curiosity may in fact doom them eventually. It is just one of the traits that gets us in trouble. If you tell someone not to look behind them, then really they will be inclined to take a peak. And if they don't, it will be a mental struggle to not turn around. We tend to be the curious species.

It is like a reflex thing, when you are told not to do something, you might rebel, immediately. On the contrary if someone told you to "Look!" right away would you? Of course you would, no doubt about it. But then it could be another kind of prank.

I think it is almost an automatic reaction, I remember years ago I went to stay on a farm and I was in the kitchen and my friend yelled don't come outside so what did I do ran to the door to ask why..I opened the door and there was a huge snake ...pays to listen sometimes..

Yes it's OK to be silly even more than once in awhile. It would depend who said it and why but for the most part I think I would not look behind me if someone told me not to.

NO I am terrible at NOT doing what I'm told not to do - LOL - it makes no sense. It's a 'curiousity killed the cat' kind of thing. Whenever someone says "don't [do this]" I typically end up doing it anyway, just because if they say DON'T DO IT, I think - well heck, it must be important or there wouldn't be a reason for how secretive/evasive that person is being. Ahhh, well. Happy MyLotting!
