Few tourist spots in West Bengal

Travelling is inherent in man. In long vacations or leisure we travel over wide areas, but, in our zeal for the unknown and unseen, we very often ignore our own state, i.e., West Bengal. It is no less important and attractive with its places of great resort ranging from the sky-kissing mountains down to the surging sea. To recount only a few among the many tourist spots will suffice. Nature with its flora and fauna hypnotizes us when we visit Darjeeling. The adjoining places of Karseong, Kalimpong, Ghoom Monastery, Tiger Hill, etc. only add to our wonder. The labyrinth of rivers and the 'lovely, dark and deep', forests of Sunderbans inspire our reverence and awe. The roaring waves of the Bay of Bengal at Digha, Bakkhali and Gangasagar intensify this feeling. Places of historical and religious interest do not lag behind to attract tourists. The 'Hazarduari', 'Topekhana', the tomb of Murshid-Khuli Khan and other magnificent relics of history animate the past that is dead and buried. The temples of Tarapith, Bishnupur, Nabadwip, Tarakeswar and such other places draw every year a large number of religious enthusiasts. Even our Calcutta and its adjoining places, with all their -historical, religious and natural charms enchant tourists of all interest both at home and abroad. The Zoological Garden, Indian Museum, Birla Planetarium, Birla Science and Technological Museum, Shaheed Minar, Parwsnath Temple, the second Hoogly brige over the Ganga, Dakshineswar and Botanical Gardens are some of the examples of our pride and glory. Let all these visit devolop a cosmopolitan mentatity and a cementing bond among the tourists.

Whoa! great description. Though you have missed a few important places like shantiniketan ( founded by noble prize winner poet Rabindranath Tagore), mandarmani ( which I personally consider better than digha), jaldapara , victoria memorial and of course 'missionaries of charity' (founded by mother teresa, not a tourist spot actually but a place to visit). And I think people don't visit the place in his own state because they think they can visit those places anytime they want so it is better to tour outside of state first.
