I've known her for two years now. She was an online friend I met on a paid to chat site. We became close and decided to take our friendship seriously by giving each other's private chat details. However, when i changed my phone to a new one i deleted that chat app that we used. After 8 months, i decided to download it again and to my surprise she's still there and in fact had a message for me.
I was saddened by all the bad things that happened in her life while i was gone and i wish i hand't left her alone then. But she's a strong woman or she's pretending to be one to be able to move on with her life. Now we are using another chat app to get in touch with each other and i'm glad to have her back.
Some online friends really remain friends.

Some online friends are better then real in person friends. I like all my friends I have here at MyLot. I also keep in touch with a few people I have met online as well from here and on a few other sites. We either communicate through the site itself, wether it be in chat or in private messages or email. I also have had some online friends stop for a while. I think we all do that from time to time because real life gets in the way.

That is so true. Real life gets in the way sometimes. But most of my friends are connected by me through our phones, thanks to smartphones. So we know we could get in touch with each other anytime of the day, but we don't want to be bothersome or annoying.

hai congrats. its a nice thing to hear that you reunited with your friend. please understand many good hearts are chating or exchanging news and views online. i really have a lot of good friends whom i got through online. through facebook i got a lot of friends internationally. sometimes i used to get suggestions and help from them literally.

Right. I don't use facebook to meet friends. I only choose those i can be trusted online. It's difficult to trust people online especially men because of their intention.

Acquaintances are those that i spoke to on social sites and haven't personally met. Friends are those that i share my thoughts, personal opinions and talk to almost everyday on my phone. If one is not on my phone then one isn't my friend at all.

I also have a online friend. The day we met on a social website we spnt the entire day together chating and with web cam too. At the end of that day he thanked me because it was fathers day and he said he was all alone and feeling very lonely. We desided to remain friends. Its been a couple of years now. We still chat with the cam someimes. If there is anyone i would ever go met in person it would be him. Im no longer on that social web site but we have each other on myspace and facebook. We also have each others email.

Good for you. I'm thankful with my smartphones because they're the only means i can get closer to my friends from other countries. I prefer to converse with them rather than send letters to mails because it's like talking to them personally. Sometimes i met them through a video chat as well. In fact my phone has an application that allows me to call my friends anywhere in the world for free and it's much clearer than an ordinary voice call.

I'm happy for you, it's wonderful thing to find someone that is online for you everyday of the week. I'm finding that online friends are better than real life friends at times, I think cause we can actually look for them easier if they are experiencing the same life worries, etc.

You're lucky to have found a real friend online. Most chat apps are haunted by , well, unusual people to say the least.
I'm pretty sure she's got a great character, because she had a message for you even after 8 months. That's really rare.

So far i'm using chat apps that couldn't be entered by anybody unless they got my pin or phone number. So unless i share it with anybody nobody would know. Unlike skype, ym and livemessenger, not anybody could just add me. That's why i rarely use those three. They're all strictly for business.

Well, I think, we can not just rely on chat application to stay in touch with someone we are close to. You could have given her your active email just in case the phone got ripped off or something, right? You are lucky anyway to have her back, and next time make sure that chat application is not the only one to stay in touch with poeple you know. Happy mylotting, toniganzon.

Yeah of course we both know that. But chatting is more personal than emails to us. We both use our emails mostly for business purpose only. We are both in facebook but i hardly use mine. So i know i could get in touch with her there but it seems she's not using hers as often too. And now that we have each other's phone number, i don't think we'll ever lose each other again. And fate brought us back together. I prefer talking to my friends using the chat app.

Well that's great! I am glad you are in touch with your friend again. I guess online friends can hang around just like the ones in real life (maybe even more so!). I used to have a friend on an online diary site (like Livejournal or Xanga, but it wasn't) and we used to e-mail and chat like EVERY DAY - we were both going through the same things in life. She was a little bit older than me, and all I know is her first and last name. I don't have any of her emails or usernames anymore. 
. It makes me sad to think about losing touch with her - waa. Oh well. Happy MyLotting! And congrats on finding your friend!

I should be thankful that she never gave up liveprofile chat until she got me back again. Now we moved to another chat application and she deleted that app as i was the only friend she had there. If she wasn't that patient, i would have lost her.

I am glad Toni that you have a true friend, though you met her in a chat forum .
Nowadays, some friends will just be your "friend" in happy moments. But in bad days they would be gone.
Like if you are in a tight financial situation, some would really be gone. Little do they know, that just their comforting and encouraging words, even with no monetary help, is enough for someone in that situation.
Me, even if i cannot help my friend in her monetary woes, i would be there helping her to find right ways on how to overcome a situation.

It's not easy for us to find someone who can really share their feelings. I did have a special friend; we used to be wrote letters for each other. In fact that actually she's studying in a same school with me! But kind of strange when we're trying to meet each other, we couldn't talk to each other. Maybe it's due to the reason that we used to be communicate through letters. Anywhere, until now we're still friends but less contact since we're busy with our own stuff. But it's really fell good to have a friend like her.

In writing you can express yourself easily and can think first. I wonder too if there would be awkward moments when i meet my online friends in person. But i've met them on a video call on skype and we talked like we've been friends for a long time.

Well that's indeed great news. there is oftentimes alot of skepticism as relates to online friendships and you've proven that it can indeed be done.
Seems like you guys reconnected just in the right time, and even though you weren't able to be there for her at that point in time, at least you're here for her now.

Thank you so much. In this world, where technology is gravely abused, i know it's a bit hard to believe that i found great friends online. So far, most of them can be trusted and i really am glad to have found some genuine ones that are worth keeping.
