My laptop who is almost three years now still in good condition but one thing I noticed it is so hot. I used a separate fan to put it on the side where I put my laptop while I'm using it, so that It lessen the heat. I can't put it also on my lap coz it burn my lap. Any suggestion what can I do about it.

might be the fan is not in great shape or never was, then it won't cool down and perhaps in some time you also can't use it anymore with higher temps. Only thing you can do is shut it down in between, see if there is not a lot of dust etc. and don't put it on your lap or a pillow and leave the space for the fan open.

There are times I clean it by using a brush but I can't reach the fan inside. Also have a cooler fan under where I put my laptop that has a usb to connect it to the laptop so it will function. But still like nothing happened.

Try to use small sized vacuum cleaners to get your reach in cleaning your fan. That works for mine.

mine is almost the same age as yours and so i have the same experience. i guess that only needs some rest. and to think, laptop has smaller fan than desktop.

I have had two new laptops recently and both of them get hot. I just feel like it's all part of it and I don't worry about it. I know a computer expert 2 houses down from me, and he says everythings okay with them.

First thing to do is to clean the airway vent, it is maybe full of accumulated dust and it affects the fan itself too. With the option of disassembling the fan system {there is a video on youtube on how to do this} and cleaning the fan itself, putting on some kind of cleaning lubricant. Another option is getting a cooling pad especially designed for laptops, which i prefer the ones having two fans.

heh! My laptop is new, I too have the same problem. It is a common thing and nothing to worry about. The processor is made up of the semi-conductor and that makes it so hot. The fan is also provided for that purpose only. Cooling effect. You can may be try changing the fan of the lappy. More faster one or something like that. That could be the only possible solution I guess. May be I don't know! Wait till if someone responds with a better solution.

Having a working laptop is a blessing, though it may be so hot because the weather is hot and you are also hot. Anyway, whether your laptop is hot or you are hot or the weather is hot, it's not an issue. The issue here is how you can use your laptop to maximize your productivity. Productivity is measured in many ways like how much you earned while you are using your laptop, or how many have you helped, or products sold, or appointments made, or advice given, etc. I suggest that when it's hot, you can stay inside your refrigerator for both you and your laptop to avoid being too hotty.ha ha ha aha

So in other words, if the weather is hot, your laptop will get hot and that eventually makes you hot as well.

I do not have any laptops, but I am planning to buy in the future. I am not sure. May be it might be on for lots of time. Try to shut down it for half hour and then on it again. May be the room or the place is too hot that the laptop has also began to feel the hotness. I think may be a table fan will help to cool the room and the laptop.

it sounds like teh fan is over heating or not working right, you may want to call someone who fixes computers and ask them for advice as to waht you can do.. it sounds like you may have to take it in to the computer shop and let them fix it. before it gets wworse.. watch about where you leave it, as if it gets so hot it may catch the house on fire.. that just does'nt spund normal.it may be ready to explode ..

Thanks for the concern, I always have a small electric fan, aside from cooiling pad that is beside my working place. I will just consult a technician about this.

Does this often happens or just now since you've said that it's already 3 years old but still in good condition. Maybe dust had accumulated inside and if you are knowledgeable with disassembling it, you can use a small vacuum cleaner to do the job.Or better yet consult a technician just to be sure.

Yeah your right, stanlley dust is really the main reason for it's getting hot. @Byola I have a cooling pad and I also have a electric fan since it's really hot here in my place. It started to get hot about 15 mins after I turn on my laptop.

To this issue i will ask you how many hours does your computer stay on in a normal day and also what kind of enviroment do you use it?i mean is the position well ventilated?cos for computers they need a cool enviroment just like we human beings require a certain temparature to be comfortable.Your laptop may be okay but may get damaged if you allow it to operate in an enviroment that is too hot

Hi lyn, Was your laptop hot all the time or is it a recent condition? If it's only recently that you've experienced the heat it could be because there's heat build-up due to the dust. If you could open it up you could perhaps clean it up. Otherwise you can send it to someone who knows how. If you're having this from day 1 then I'm afraid it's a design problem and there's not much you can do about it.

I was thought that before bringing it to the technician, I don't have these problem before so maybe your right it has many dust on the fan.

That is quite a common problem with laptops and netbooks, they lack of proper air flows due to reduced sizes and can't properly cool it down. When you're using it with CPU-intensive programs (mainly games) it can really become hot, up to the point to self power off to protect itself. The real problem is when that happens when doing simple tasks. The best you can do is to put a fan facing it if you have one. I also bough a base with coolers under it for mine, and really helped me a lot when using modern games to keep temperature under control. Also dust may be dangerous when it accumulates in the internal cooler, if you know, you may try to disassembly it and clean it, or ask a friend or tech to do so.

I guess there's nothing to worry about as it's just normal. We all use our laptop for long hours, so it gets hot eventually. Stay cool always!

Your laptop is probably running on high performance. When i switched to using high performance, the same thing happened. It gets super hot but I don't keep it on my lap so I don't mind the heat. The best thing would be to get a special kind of fan stand for the laptop. These stands have around 4 really fast fans that can really cool your laptop down fast. Also, shut your computer down after you use it. Don't put it to sleep or hibernate. At night every day, shut it down. Your laptop needs rest just like everybody! :P

Is there's a setting on high or low performance or it is on how I used the laptop?

They have some really neat cooling pads you can get to help. Some laptops do get very hot. There are some lap cushions you can get too that don't block the vents.

Sometimes when the batteries get older, they can cause a little more heat when they are going through the discharge/charge cycles. If it doesn't hold a charge for very long, you may want to replace the battery. I also recommend a cooling pad that is basically a base with a fan powered by the USB port that your laptop sits on. You can use them on your lap or a hard surface. I use one all the time and it works great.

hi lyn! we the same case try to use the cooling pad so that it will help you make your lap top cold and also try not to cover the fan of your lap top or put your lap top in table or cloth.
